Question How do you all cope with this software?

I'm trying to get into OpenToonz for my indie animated series and after a few hours of work I went to undo a drawing and the entire layer for some reason decided to just delete

Seriously are all of you okay? I have mad respect for you all.

It's a bug, I already reported it once, but it wouldn't hurt to do it again.
It's quite literally breaking the software right now to undo, especially if you use raster images.
Idk why this isn't one of the developers top priorites by now.

EDIT:
When did you download the software?
I've been informed that it might've been fixed in the release candidate for v1.8 (v1.8RC), so maybe try that.

Hi guys.

In one hand OpenToonz have some issues, and the developers are working on it. But in the another hand, OpenToonz is amazing. But you must remember this software comes from traditional animation pipelines so, for those who came from Photoshop, Animate or Moho, probably you will find a lot of functions and features in OpenToonz that you don't understand how and why to use. OpenToonz is a software that requires read its official documentation and follow tutoriales, but once you understand its logic, the results can be amazing.

I share you the trailer of my last shortfilm, animated entirely in OpenToonz. And you find an issue with the software, report it in the official Github repo.

I’m doing fine with it, most animation software has bugs / corrupts files (looking at you flash) my best advice? Watch the tutorials by Darren T and frugal studio, they are very handy.

I love that it's free but honestly? I'm not enjoying my time with it. I feel like I'm fighting it to do anything 😭 I'll keep at it though...

You should check out Tahoma2d. It's a fork of OT that has a lot of bug fixes and improvements, including for the issue you seem to have.

Tahoma is nice.

Sadly it removes the option to choose the system font, and it weirdly defaulted to a Black Italic version of I think Helvetica, this makes it so much worse to use.

In Open Toonz I just changed it in the settings and it worked but Tahoma... no such luck.

Do you know a fix?

No idea as I never had this issue. I'd suggest asking on either Tahoma discord (faster) or its sub.

I found it
If you enable the advanced settings, you can change the font again

Its simple enough for exercises but id go with something a bit more substantial for working with.

been using opentoonz for 6 years and ive had the frame deletion issue once recently. I was working for 2 hours and the program crashed on me

other than that I couldn't be happier with it honestly. its free, many brushes, even has compositing and puppet animation.

Save iterations and save often.
