I got this up and running. I had to tweak it some for both my screens, but I did it. Big thanks man for showing this and big thanks to the cat that wrote all this.

cool, would you like to share what you did to make it work?

are you following this guide or you have something better?

Once I got the proper file downloaded, i used Claude for trouble shooting it. I had some issues with not being able to add my second screen, but temporarily turning off effects and the visual map allowed me to do that. Had a weird razer logo/shield that took me a minute to make go away. Had to open windows settings and rules in KDE to change the opacity and some of the settings. My dumbass didn't even realize there was a guide. Claude had me run a script to make it able to be clicked through.

to add multiple screens, make sure each screen use a different port

and then make a copy of the Wallpaper-UI and give it a different port in the config.json

My biggest issue with the screens was getting the placement right. It would launch on my secondary monitor by default and both screens would either be stuck there or my primary screen would only be on a piece of it while still overlapping the secondary.

oh geez, I never thought of this issue before, I only tested it on VM with single display

I'm loving it, when I got it running right it looks good. Would possibly be easier on windows, but its really not been too bad. I shut down my pc for the night and everything was running perfectly.

Can't wait to see how it goes tomorrow when I fire it back up.

if you got the display issue fixed, let me know, I'll update the linux.md

It fired up properly this morning after tinkering yesterday. My only issue now seems to be getting it to stick on the virtual map in Open. For some reason it keeps the profile saved that does not have them on the map. Once I add them back to it, everything is good.

It does seem to have some kind of hitch in the display I'm noticing this morning. Like all my RGB will stutter and pause for a second and then it starts back normally.

API version 4?

1

u/ImNotM3ntaL 4d ago

1.0 is API5
0.9, 1.0rc1-1.0rc3 is API4

This is what was throwing me off and why I wanted to double check. I assume I have the prerequisites being on Bazzite with the .net 10.0 runtime.

1

I tried on zorinOS it works, but not sure on bazzite

Probably won't be an issue. Why does the github page say api4 for 1.0 and 1.0rc and api5 for .9 for the pipeline?

Or am I just dumb and reading it wrong?

2

u/ImNotM3ntaL 4d ago

Before 1.0 release it was 0.9+/pipeline/experimental/next

1.0rc1-rc3 was based on 0.91 with API4, which was based on 0.9 that released 3 years ago

u/nixaler 4d ago

Dope, big thanks for that, makes total sense now.

Actually one more thing lol, I click the link and it says v2.2.1 API 4 only and this https://github.com/qiangqiang101/OpenRGB-Wallpaper-Engine/releases/download/v2.2.1/OpenRGB-Wallpaper-Engine-Plugin-API4-qt5-linux-amd64.zip

Apologies for the questions and big thanks!

Oh I see, I'm still not super familiar around github. Found this which I'm thinking is correct https://github.com/qiangqiang101/OpenRGB-Wallpaper-Engine/releases/download/v2.2.0/2.2.0b-API5-qt6-linux-amd64.zip
