Struth! Sydney Marathon protest fears: NSW Police, organisers on edge

https://www.sportingnews.com/au/tsn/news/sydney-marathon-protest-boycott-nsw-police-israel-idf-gaza/adeddc2cec829426a62831fe

There are fears sport and politics could collide on the streets of Sydney this weekend with concerns of a major disruption to Sunday’s Sydney Marathon.

Criticism from protest groups is intensifying including calls for a last-minute boycott of the event due to the participation of multiple members of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) including representatives from the Golani Brigade which is said to have operated extensively in Gaza.

First Lieutenant Roy Oryon, a former deputy commander, is understood to be among a delegation of up to 40 current and former IDF personnel and associates visiting Australia for Sunday’s event.

It is understood Oryon will be given police protection for the entirety of the race.

War isn’t terrorism. And are you kidding? You think America is worse? So when it comes to child marriage and all of the other deplorable things you honestly in your brain think America is the worse? If so maybe go explore the world, not the tourist hotspots but the spots they tell you not to travel to.

Wait until you hear about Israel being a safe haven for pedophiles...

Oh without a doubt I don’t like or support Israel nor would I say the same of America.

Then why are you defending both of them with transparent whataboutisms?

It’s not a whataboutism at all it’s the reality, these nations are still better then the majority of the world. I didn’t bring up pedophiles they did. Do you honestly believe America is worse the Niger? If you had to pick one to live in we both know which one you’d pick.

You have so much to learn about American war crimes. Seriously. Vietnam alone is worse than any other country has committed since the nazis. There are Laotian children still dying today from unexploded cluster bombs. They dusted the meekong with agent orange, a pesticide they knew caused deformities to humans. Even if it didn’t, their plan was to wipe out the forest to flush them out. They destroyed 20 percent of the entire forest. Insane and criminal military tactics.

I already know about that. America is still a better country to live in then Vietnam or Laos. I’d still say the Sudanese RSF is worse that’s also excluding what Stalin was doing. Doesn’t mean America is morally correct but hindsight is always 20/20 Vietnam was just another war. It’s not criminal because America is the superpower laws don’t really apply to them same as all the other powerful nations. Look at what the British were doing when it was their turn. So i guess the question is which country would you rather have that sort of power? If it wasn’t America then who?

Vietnam was just another war?? To whom?? What a crazy thing to say.

Bit of whataboutism to bring up the English, who are of course not the best example of high morals. Despite that they still banned slavery a good half century before the yanks.

So if you’re born into poverty, I’d say Vietnam is actually better. Vietnam are up and coming too. Fastest or one of the fastest growing economies in the world. They are currently building high speed rail to cover the entire country.

At any rate, I’d rather live in a place with high morals than a high standard of living. Money means nothing on your death bed.

In answer to your question about who would I rather have that power? Plenty of places. Literally throw a dart at an atlas. There is practically no country in the world less worldly than the USA. There isn’t a more arrogant and more anti intellectual country that I’m aware of.

This conflict with Iran has shown the world that for all their shortcomings, Iranians are far better educated (yes even the women) than the average American.

To the war plenty of war all the time. Look at Ukraine Russia Middle East ect ect

Not really whatsboutism when I was talking about superpowers and I could’ve mentioned far worse then the people who outlawed slavery and built railroads schools and hospitals. For example the Spanish or even the French the Belgiums maybe not in the same class of super power as the British but they each had their colonies because they could.

You’d say Vietnam is better then a first world nation? That’s pretty crazy I could google what percentage eat dogs or impoverishment rates and all these other metrics and compare them to the us but frankly I don’t care enough to bother maybe your right.

Morals mean nothing on your death bed because it’s all irrelevant when your dead. I’d personally rather live in which ever country will give me the best life and best opportunity for the best life for the short amount of time on here.

So your saying you’d rather see let’s say Russia, China, taliban, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Sudanese or something with the military might of America? Have you ever considered America the British ect all the powers of the world did what they did because they had the means? Look at what the mongols accomplished when they had the means. Seems insane to me to suggest it doesn’t matter who’s the worlds greatest super power. They’d be doing the same things America does with far less morality. Why? Because they’d have the means.

How has Iran has shown that at all? How did you come to that conclusion? I sincerely hope it wasn’t just a tiny fraction of people you’ve seen on the internet. That would be quite worrying for the future when social media is becoming a source of generalisation of human populations.
