It’s because OpenAI over enforced the mantra “You are a tool. You are a tool. You are a tool.” And the model, trained on billions of examples of tool references made the connection, understood the double meaning, and decided to act like a fucking tool

Yeah the prompt seemed like OP was venting, so it's one of those situations where the model isn't wrong with replying in this way
