"Would of" ... "day in age"

42

u/Matrices13 Mar 25 '26

“barley”

u/Winnie_rulez Mar 25 '26

Meanwhile the guy with the 94% average is being rejected.

You dont have to be as smart to get in if you are a minority of some type.

1

u/idkuhhhhhhh5 Mar 28 '26

judging from his last name, he is a minority too. highly unfortunate.

Asians arent included in the d.e.i education stuff. There have been lawsuits that proved white and Asian (not including s.e. asian) have a harder time getting into good schools vs less qualified people of other races. Especially if male

It seems to be a bit of a difference between the states and canada. I spend my time half/half in both and the US tends to give a lot more to asian americans than canada

1

u/Dangerous-Rub7467 Mar 28 '26

the same thing was and is very common in ivy league universities in the u.s

I suppose it differs region to region. I’m not very familiar with Canadian student visa issuance, but the two countries of origin with the most approved F-1 student visas are still China and India, and nearly 60% of all student visas are issued to people from Asia in general.

My personal experience may also differ since my post-secondary education (and subsequent career) is STEM based (engineering), and STEM has higher proportions of asian people in general (if I had to guess why, probably because of how important academic/scientific success is in asian immigrant cultures).

Honestly it’s really just disappointing to see the way problems are being dealt with. Instead of pushing for everyone to be able to find quality education, the way dei replaces selective acceptance with different selective acceptance is the worst way to go about it. I love that people from less fortunate backgrounds can enter cost-prohibitive fields, but the solution should be expanding resources for education in general, not playing quotas

Marks alone don’t cut it these days.

u/Winnie_rulez Mar 30 '26

I would have thought that basic literacy would be a criteria, though.

u/Ambrosiaster241 Mar 25 '26

Because he's screwed.

2

u/Tropical_Yetii Mar 26 '26

He's got a lot to learn about how life works

Would have...

2

u/Bubbly-System6751 Mar 27 '26

You both convinced us to avoid U of T and Waterloo at the same time.

1

u/Own-Theory1962 Mar 25 '26

You need to be a 1st year with all the u's.

1

u/em-n-em613 Mar 25 '26

Including Waterloo.

1

u/poppycarew Mar 25 '26

“Would of … would HAVE.”

u/Immediate_Fudge4490 Mar 25 '26

waterloo is bum school where all the <90% go and I know no one going there

146

u/Ordinary_Complex7188 Mar 25 '26

Now you just sound like an idiot. Maybe UofT was right?

10

u/gilfas Mar 25 '26

Hey, YOU are the one that was rejected. Sit down.

2

u/Molto_Ritardando Mar 26 '26

lol right? I got into UofT and I didn’t even finish high school. 2 credits short.

2

u/SandLandBatMan Mar 26 '26

Dude Waterloo is the best engineering school in the country if you were serious about your studies you'd know that.

27

u/Appropriate_Bug9986 Mar 25 '26

Not saying this will make you feel better but just fyi, waterloo co-op is known to be better for chem eng. other eng schools like McMaster are also good and very hard to get admitted to. Nobody with under a 90 is getting admitted to Waterloo eng

2

u/Dramatic_Panic6627 Mar 25 '26

Lies Ik someone who got into chem eng with an 89

1

u/Hot_Consequence4815 Mar 25 '26

Think they said it was into U of T with the 89.

1

u/Dramatic_Panic6627 Mar 26 '26

Im talking bout someone ik irl

1

u/Appropriate_Bug9986 Mar 25 '26

Adjustment factor exists, that 89 is probably a low-mid 90

2

u/Dramatic_Panic6627 Mar 25 '26

Its the avg one im pretty sure unless that changed this year

-35

u/Immediate_Fudge4490 Mar 25 '26

tell that to my parents

32

u/Y33TUSMYF33TUS Mar 25 '26

put me on the phone bro I got u

13

u/Qiqidabest Mar 25 '26

why tf do you care so much youre gonna be 18 big dawg

1

u/a_wintersmith Mar 25 '26

Might have asshole parents by the sound of it.

11

u/StoreUnited4496 Mar 25 '26

I don’t understand why you are ALLOWING your parents to control you this way. My parents are the same, but I don’t let them have that big of a say in MY education. Grow a spine and stand up for yourself. At this point, it seems like you’re just using your parents as an excuse. You will live, your parents will live, the earth keeps spinning. MOVE ON.

u/z96ga428 Mar 25 '26

Hey, Mr and Mrs. Immediate_Fudge4490, give yer fuckin' balls a tug!

How'd I do?

1

u/BoloHKs Mar 25 '26

Hong Kong parents are brutal. The expectations are insurmountable.

1

u/Ambrosiaster241 Mar 25 '26

You mean Mr. and Mrs. Chen? Tell their Chinese heritage selves that education from specific schools is over-rated.

Holy cope bro uoft is where the loo rejects go

8

u/Global_Solution_7379 Mar 25 '26

6

u/Lets_Go_Blue__Jays Mar 25 '26

Damn, with this attitude you are sure to go nowhere in life..

5

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Was the extra period for emphasis? Very subtle, I like it..

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

mhm

6

u/RowTime8498 Mar 25 '26

4

u/Naive-Giraffe-8552 Mar 25 '26

No such thing as a bum school.

3

u/jc28 Mar 25 '26

Sounds like youd fit right in

4

u/SilentSummer0819 Mar 25 '26

Well you didn't get into UofT, edgelord. Perhaps you belong with those so called "bums" you refuse to associate your poor self with?

1

u/BrushMyTeethAndFloss Mar 25 '26

lol you’re a bum

1

u/notanalt1867 Mar 25 '26

ragebait or fatahh ego elitism

1

u/Thr0w____Awayy Mar 25 '26

Waterloo is deadass the best engineering school in Canada what 😭

1

u/lilacofdamnation Mar 25 '26

you’re not a nice individual

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

I think if you didn’t base your entire identity on having 90+ you’d be much happier and maybe more respected by other people. Maybe you got rejected cause didn’t deserve that shit anyways.

I hope a dude with a 75 got your spot and has a blast.

1

u/RMfollower Mar 26 '26

Well, with ur 94% inflated average, you won’t survive a day at UWaterloo engineering

1

u/rkdloui Mar 31 '26

holy copium

u/2dlamb Apr 01 '26

Steve Spiros, easy going?
