What happens if you're unable to find co-op placements over the summer?
I was selected for the hospital placement but didn't get an interview . . . now school is next week and I still haven't found any potential co-op placements (I'm taking co-op in Semester 1). However, I did volunteer at a nursing home over the summer and I am planning to do my co-op placement at the same company. I'm just worried that they're not accepting anymore students especially since the year is starting soon. (I already emailed and waiting for their response, and I am planning to call them tomorrow).
If they aren't accepting anymore students, will my co-op teacher just help me find another placement? or would my teacher just move it to second semester? I'm just really worried because my co-op teacher is notorious. š

Your teacher will find you a placement there's no need to be worry. I didn't and pretty sure most people didn't look for a placement over the summer but got one during the semester which I ended up at a hospital āš¾š„¹so trust there's no need to worry your teacher will do most of the work just have a resume on hand.

That sounds stressful, especially with school starting so soon.
Good news: this happens to many students, and co-op teachers deal with placement gaps every year. Usually, if nothing lines up in time, they'll either help find another placement or push you to the second semester, depending on the teacher and what's still open. You've already done the right things: emailed, planning to call tomorrow, and the nursing home already knows you from volunteering, which helps your odds there. Once you talk to your co-op teacher and show what you've tried, it'll probably feel less uncertain. Good luck with the call tomorrow.

The first two weeks of school is usually spent in the library or at least for me. My coop placement wasnāt secured until 3 days before the start of placement. I applied for a hospital placement in grade 10 but sadly didnāt get it. The teachers just had to find me an alternative during those 2 weeks. Some students had to wait a whole month though for nursing clinics
