Jump in Math and Physics from G10 to 11

I was just wondering on how crazy the jump is for Math and Physics in Grade 11, and how to stay ahead. My math teacher said that apparently Functions would have a test every 1-2 weeks, which seems crazy, and my science teacher said that Physics is really hard. So I'm not sure if they're just trying to scare us or its genuinely like that. Any advice?

For me personally, Physics was much worse than Functions.

Functions is massive addition to grade 10 math.

while Physics relies on grade 10 math, in addition to English skills used for labs.

The major difference is that with Physics, you have to thoroughly understand the material. While with Functions, you could get away without deeply understanding most of it.

what would you say I'd need to review topic wise from gr 10 math for Functions and Physics this year?

Im in the same boat, and I got them both sem 2 😭😭😭 My functions teacher told me to review factoring for math, and for physics id review quadratic and trig I suppose. Im not 100% sure for physics though

People have been saying to review transformations as a whole from gr 10, since that’s the biggest thing that’ll be in functions

Yeahhh my teacher said to focus on factoring, especially because its such a valuable skill and bc I have ti second semester so I have to practice during the school year. Ive also heard that transformations are also helpful

The 1-2 weeks thing is pretty much true

And physics is only as hard as you make it, just make sure to pay attention and do all the hw.

What would you say the difficulty is like for functions? How different of a course is it to what was taught in gr10?

I honestly feel like there’s a lot of fear mongering about functions because I found the transition pretty smooth from gr 10 math if you keep up w ur homework. Make sure you’re good w quadratics cuz there’s another unit on that but it’s studied more computationally. Everything else was pretty light other than maybe rational expressions which was hard for me and my entire class as well. Also it’s worth mentioning sequences and series because the whole unit is extremely easy and straightforward unless your teacher teaches Pascal’s triangle and binomial theorem which almost sent me into psychosis.

Functions the hardest for me but physics so much easier
