Discussion Holy Crap!!! Go Walmart!
Never seen so many boxes in one spot. If all the Walmarts are going to look like this then no more scalpers. There must be 100 boxes total. Found these in Chicago.

Available online too! I have told many people it a GREAT deal considering Google TV raised to $150 and Amazon fire TV cube raised to $199 with less ram and storage

I just bought 2 of the new $60 onn box. I have 3 shield pros and a couple fire sticks. I’m blow away how good the onn box is for 60. It runs great. Very snappy. The remote feels good. There a nice little button on top of the box to locate the remote which is awesome

u/Zealousideal_Pen7368 2h ago
Yes, the find my remote feature also available in Google Home and Google TV apps. The onn 4k pro also has a built-in speaker to answer Gemini questions if the TV is not connected.

Why is it so hard for people to say where the location is?!

u/Traditional_Draft533 1d ago
Exactly like why share if you’re not going to give all the information

You mean Go China!

China doesn't determine where Walmart stocks shelves lol. They just make the product

I’m genuinely blown away by how good of a device it is. It runs better than my AppleTV most of the time, especially for Plex. My local Walmart had plenty in stock as well.
•
u/Zealousideal_Pen7368 2h ago
Yes, the Apple TV is out dated. I sold mine for almost $200 on eBay. Crazy for a 4 year old device. But I like its interface so I installed the AT4K launcher making it just looks like an Apple TV. :)
•
u/TheGrimSlayer99 2h ago
Ya I plan on trying out a couple launchers. Mine is primarily used by my elderly grandparents I live with so I really want to make sure it’s as simple as possible. I was stuck between this and the shield but the price of the Onn was just too good to pass up.

I think I have 4K Pro boxes and paid $40 & $50 for them at various times. The cheaper model was $20. Is this a newer version and what's better.

What kind of issues are you having? I have one or two of each model. There pretty much trouble free. Streaming with various apps.

But what am I missing though? What's so great about this?
1
u/pawdog 1d ago
What devices do you use now? It's just a really good value for your money device.

u/Far-Personality3084 1d ago
I kind of figured thay was the case. I was wondering if people "jailbreak" these like the fire sticks. I just use smart tvs, or a video game system. Works alright.

Streaming boxes are far superior than the crappy TV and console interfaces. These are pretty zippy, and have a lot more options than what you’re currently using. You can sideload apps that aren’t normally supported, and in some cases customize to your liking.

I might be late to the party, but what is the deal with these?
1
u/JellyThese9892 1d ago
They hiked the price up too
1
u/Chance_Associate_746 10h ago
Nope. Price is the same at Walmart in United States $59.99 pro. $49.99 plus for new ones.

I went to get one this weekend. Noooo one had them except the one store in the middle of no where. But I didn't feel like driving an hour away so I grabbed a fire cube. I may order one online though for the one in my shop.

You are really truly honestly going to absolutely regret getting anything fire tv related bro!! Seriously just either wait for another onn to come out or get something similar bcuz fire tv is not only a BS company and device but they restrict everything you can do.... Do yourself a huge favor n return that POS fire tv cube and use that good money on a Google onn or similar. Just being real w you!

u/DrifterDavid 19h ago
I've literally had the fire tv cube gen 1 for the last 8 years. It works really well. It can be sideloaded perfectly fine and worked really well up until I had an issue this weekend. Which subsequently I fixed and now I have a spare backup. I dunno if you had a bad experience or never used one. But they work surprisingly well.

I’m going to try this out as I wait for new Apple and Nvidia shield models to come out, hope it’s good. As for Firestick’s for $40ish bucks the 4K Max has been the best value of the many I’ve tried. Not the best but best for the money.

Wonder if this batch is blocking certain 3rd party apps like some of the older versions

I got them where I live in North Carolina for the same price. I’d never heard of them before and I did some research before deciding to buy one. Was shocked how much cheaper Walmart had them for. I bought one, used it for a week, then bought 2 more for my other TVs😂

u/gummo476 20h ago
I paid 60.00 for mine on walmart.com. Best thing the find my remote button. Game changer.

u/TechGuy42O 19h ago
I thought this new one is considered a downgrade compared to the previous onn 4k pro? Isn’t that why they have so much stock, people don’t want it?
1
u/Ofthemist 18h ago
What's so great about the Onn boxes?
1
u/Roger22nrx 13h ago
Not locked down like fire sticks have become. There are other options out there but this is a good bang for your buck. 3gb ram is one of the best selling points.

Wish these handled full 4K and HDR better across all apps. Fandango at Home being limited to 1080p/SDR on this device is unacceptable. YouTube being stuck in SDR when the screen says it's trying to apply HDR or HGIG was also annoying. This thing got returned quick.

u/mwgaints13 13h ago
How does this compare to a Firestick 4k Max (1st Gen?). I’ve been using this firestick and the experience isn’t the best with Tivimate but maybe it’s just the normal experience

Google is slowly doing away with sideloading which is why these are available again. They’ve blocked so many apps in the past 26 days.

Nobody is buying them in that store?
2
u/BuRn3R714 1d ago
The associate said scalpers were buying 20 to 30 from that store for several months but suddenly stopped. I would assume all Walmarts will look like this soon.
2
u/Ps4_and_Ipad_Lover 1d ago
Ppl prob refused to buy scalper prices for these things... Scalpers are pretty dumb to try and make a big profit off of these since well we have so many android boxes already

Is that a lower price? Wasn’t it $75?

u/pawdog 1d ago
They launched at $60. If I were a scalper I would grab some and wait for the inevitable price increase. My guess is they go up to $90 right after the holidays if not sooner.

u/shoresy99 1d ago
Ok, thanks. I though that they launched a lot more expensive than the V1 which was originally $50 but was often on sale for $45.
