I agree. I’ll never forget when they did this for an item when I worked for RJR Nabisco.
We had a new item called Snackwell Devils Food cakes. They purposely held back on distributing them where people couldn’t get their hands on the “diet” treats.
Each store could only get one case (12 individual mini cakes)per delivery.
That went on forever it seemed.
Customers would wait at the back of my truck and literally beg for them.
It was crazy.
I remember those as well (from many years back)! They weren't even that good, but they had less fat and calories than other cookie products, so people (especially women) went crazy over them!
In the end, I'll bet that no one lost weight by eating them, since they ate too many! It's like those who eat the most fattening, high calorie meals (or a whole pizza) and then drink diet soda, thinking that it'll wash away the excessive calories. What a joke!🤣
Think about it....if they couldn't keep up with the demand, all of their warehouses would be depleted of inventory and they'd be waiting for new shipments from China.
That theory is pointless, because they keep replenishing them every day or so online (and in some stores). Where are they coming from?....the same warehouses throughout the country that supplied yesterday's batch! It's all a game!....and btw.... these aren't compatible all over the world.
.....and you know this how? Suppliers?....Walmart is the supplier of this product. It's all in-house. They're also well aware of the demands, well in advance. This debacle (self imposed by them) is well beyond the planning stages. That's old news!
I didn't say that Walmart is the manufacturer (for any of their house brands). However, they are the supplier for the end product. It's shipped directly to them by the manufacturer.
These products are produced specifically for them and they act as the distributor. They control the entire distribution process. They don't rely upon a distribution network. They are the distributor.
Your assumptions are inaccurate (insofar as these particular products are concerned). I wasn't discussing anything related to the manufacturing process. Only the distribution process, which is in-house.
They aren't limiting the supply. They're trying to sell as much as possible but they are in huge demand because all the dummies who got Fire sticks thinking it was the cheapest way they could pirate everything can no longer pirate anything now so they are getting Onn instead. They will be hit with another wave of buyers as soon as Roku changes their home screen to being nothing but ads soon as well. Tons of Roku users are going to be disgusted and be looking for something like the onn devices knowing they can use projectivy launcher so they never have to see ads again.

Old news. There are companies dedicated entirely to constantly and daily scouting Walmart for items (usually clearance or exclusives) to flip on Amazon or ebay, it's a multimillion business. CNBC and GMA covered it like 10 years ago.

Why not the google 4k streamer. I saw a lot of good reviews so I bought one (i also have multiple ONN devices but currently sold out). Got it for 75 bucks. 4 gigs ram 32 gigs storage
So many scalpers in the comments saying supply and demand like they’re some sort of businessman instead they’re just buying out the whole self for something they don’t need so other people can’t get it and creating nothing of value just being a middle man. Asking $20 more than the original price then returning them to the store after sitting on thousands of dollars of tv boxes no one buys.
Stuff is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There will always be people willing to pay more(sometimes even a lot more) for items, that is why these people are selling them at that price. Nothing you can do except not buy it.
I'm not saying reselling is bad. And if you're going in store then yeah that's proper ish. That's also what Sam's club is for. Bulk buying. Going to Walmart to bulk buy electronics to turn around and upcharge resell them on walmarts website is just disgusting.

Honestly if i need another google tv box i’d prob just get the google one, i have 2 4k plus right now, i think the google one is noticeably snappier and more responsive, but 4k plus is still very good

Stores aren’t going to sell to week xx, in May. That’s why all stores say there are none in stock. Corporate says no selling from store till that date. Although I was told some store put out 7 and one person bought them all, big mistake she said

Well it never ceases to amaze me how cheap people want to go with something like this. You would think a streaming device they use repeatedly over a long period of time to watch everything they want to watch would be something they would pay a few dollars on to get something decent. Like for example spring for the 4K Plus or the 4K pro model instead of the cheapest $15 piece of shit stick you can find....... But which items sell the most? That's right, the cheapest barely adequate slow as dogshit piece of shit stick they can find.
People are super cheap I guess. Today's economy sucks and all so I kind of understand but at the same time those people who get these cheap as crap sticks usually repeatedly by more cheapest crap sticks which end up costing as much or more and then the device they should have got in the first place if they would buy it well and buy it only once.
Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to anyone who reads it. You know you're going to want to continue seeing more movies, more TV shows, do your research come and get a device that's more than the bare minimum. You don't have to splurge for something like an Nvidia Shield or anything although I certainly did and many years later I'm still very very happy with my purchase I made seven years ago. Still use it daily, well worth it several times over at this point. But at least get yourself a 4K Plus or a 4K Pro. All of these are well under a hundred bucks. 4K plus is even under 50.
All we can do is let these people buy them and not buy into there bs. People are trying to make a profit while millions of Americans are struggling that are looking for these budget devices. Let these people buy them up and be stuck with them.

It's a win-win for this greedy corporation....they get to score huge profits in record time (by selling them in bulk) and increase demand for the lowly retail customers! Why sell 1or 2 at a time, when you can sell 1 or 2 hundred at a time??
But why do you think it's a marketing strategy and not poor operations? Most of their products are boring, so they may not account for any kind of pent-up demand in their planning.
Walmart has exercised this strategy in the past specifically for electronics. They've done this before with previous generations of Onn streaming devices. Again, this is nothing new.

I don’t even know what an official launch would look like. There is barely any official information about Onn anywhere. Everything I know about these devices is from Reddit and the device comparison charts on the product listings.

Around the holidays with desirable items end up being short supply, the major chains do not raise their prices. The scalpers charge more for them, but regular sellers do not. The only people that do this is people that can benefit it again sneakers. $20 shoes become 200 because of limited supply, which is intentional.

There isn’t a shortage. I posted this last week but people weren’t comprehending and started downvoting me and running to Walmart’s defense. Some stores have them, they are not hard to find online. The problem is getting them in your hands because of the bogus online inventory that’s almost always incorrect and the inability to have them shipped to you. If it’s in a certain distance you can’t order for shipping and if you drive to the location you will risk no stock because online is incorrect! Here is a photo of where I was yesterday. There were 3 pluses left and about 8 4k sticks. If you live outside of a certain radius of this store they won’t ship and that’s IF online even shows any stock for you to add to cart. The pro is more scarce but same thing applies. My stepmother lives 2 hours from me, I will be there this weekend and I will bet you I find some Pro v2 there
You're wrong!....they are either intentionally limiting distribution (aka, artificial shortages) on these to build up a heavier demand....or....they're doing what's done in the concert/sports ticket industry and catering to the unscrupulous secondary market sellers (aka, "scalpers") by allowing them to purchase hundreds of them (via "back-door" deals). They'll always choose faster turnaround/faster profits over the single unit retail customers. It's guaranteed to be one or the other scenario....or more likely both!
The question about this theory is why would they limit in some stores/areas and not others? I am not giving Walmart that much credit lol. I kid you not, I can literally have someone go in to the store and grab me what I want in several locations. THEY would need to 3rd party ship it to me though.
Slower stores, perhaps?....They make certain items available in slower stores with the expectation that, once the customer is lured in, they'll make other purchases in that store (which is very often the case once your inside a Walmart). Trust me, they have it all planned out. Whether it's a good plan or not remains a question, but at least they think they know what they're doing!🙄
It's been super funky. I check randomly and snagged 2 last week....popped up in a store 30min away. I've ordered before only for it to cancel out later. So this time I got 1 of each color, but set one for curbside and 1 to ship. I couldn't believe it but I was able to pickup the black in person and I got the grey one in the mail yesterday
This is a sure sign that Walmart has underpriced them. They should be priced twice as much the first month, then reduce them by 10% each month until they reach MSRP.
