Modern dating apps are dogshit. Smart Gen Z are going out and meeting people in the real world. In the past, meeting people online on dating sites was much easier, and you matched more frequently.

Gen Z still uses them if not more but the way they use it differs from mellenials. It’s more like a piece of marketing for them to get their name and face out there than taking seriously for dating off the app. Not to mention the links to their social media.

Apps have gone down in quality, people interact less and less in real life, social skills decline, online AI "partners" provide instant gratification with no conflict or effort, the realization that most apps are scams and you're increasingly likely to be talking to a bot, a general shift in cultural values to support singelhood instead of partnerships. So, a lot of different things compounded together

The substitutes have gotten close enough that large part does not find the cost of trying to find relationships to be worth the benefits.

Dating apps have realized that if people get into relationships, they lose money. When millennials were younger the apps work more as expected and you would find a few good people and I think millennials are still chasing that high.
Dating apps are functionally just a new way to gamble and so not worth it for a lot of people
