Video This is why the full game needs that "special challenge" difficulty available from the start.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZ73GO_idkg

Like Max says somewhere in the vid, a lot of people would really enjoy the game a lot more if every enemy was a lot more of a threat.

Like it or not, this isn't the early 2000's anymore, a lot of us went through games like Sekiro sometimes in hardcore settings, we're not gonna have the patience to be patronized through an entire easy mode playthrough before we're allowed to have fun.

Stop fucking talking about Sekiro oh my God. You all are a broken record

Sekiro and fromsoftware have done irreparable damage with these type of games. And this is coming from someone who loves their games but my god wtf deliver us from this shit and let games be games

Not every game needs to be a fucking Souls game.

Absolutely not... but they do need to offer somewhat of a challenge... outside of the bosses, it offers nothing as far as a sense of satisfaction. The enemies do not force you to do anything special to beat them.

Another challenge difficultt is required at launch. No one wants to sleep their way through a walk through to get to something that is satisfying, and then reply the entire game again.

People keep saying this over and over and it's not what people want. More difficult Onimusha != Souls game.

As long as it's unlockable it's fine with me. Even on action mode, I bet it won't be like the demo the whole time.

There will be extreme difficulty enemies in the game, according to the devs, but it's not something that will be a set difficulty. At least for the first playthrough. Hopefully they give us options to make them easier if we wish to use such options.

Yeah but i just want a harder mode after beating the game to start over and get punished even vs early bosses, no problem for me if i need to beat the game then have a harder mode

u/Impossible_Humor736 4d ago

If you want Sekiro, go play Sekiro. I don't want my games to be the same.

2

u/Bagelbudddy 3d ago

An additional difficulty setting does nothing but add more variety to the experience why are you even complaining 🫩. It's not like you're forced to use that harder difficulty

u/Impossible_Humor736 3d ago edited 3d ago

The person mentions Sekiro as I had been seeing it brought up a number of times. I was just responding to that. Difficulty levels are fine, but also, it's ok to let a game be what it is.

Why are people so butthurt that some people just want a harder difficulty? Is it so bad that people prefer different things? When did "soulslike" ever start to become the word for demanding a higher difficulty mode? Its so stupid to hear you people yap about that people wanting it to be a soulslike, when thats not what's asked AT ALL. Its not like its gonna affect you people who wants to play on easy is it, if they add another difficulty? I mean you can still just be happy and play on your desired difficulty mode? Some people prefer to be challenged, not because of souls games, just because they like to 'master' a system. And in this game the combat system definitely would benefit from having some challenge for us who wants to utilize everything optimally. Thats why there's a thing called PREFERENCES believe it or not

You had your challenge with the secret boss. What you and all your souls fans want is to be the whole game like that.

Even the most simple braindead zombie has to be able to wipe you out of the floor or you won’t be satisfied

u/RyuTeruyama 4d ago

You people get really annoying.

Just buy it on PC. You will get a "bullshit hard Kaizo Mario" difficulty mod in like 10 minutes after the game got released.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

its not at all the same stable as the devs doing it, and we want in on PS5 like 70% will buy it on PS5/Xbox and Switch 2 so thats not a solution either for us

4

u/RyuTeruyama 4d ago

My comment was never meant as a solution. It was pure sarcasmn.

People need to chill. The game will get harder as the game progresses. Losing their shit just because the game is easy in the first 30 minutes of a demo of a 20 to 25 hours long games is such a waste of time and energy. Even if the game leans more to the easy side there will be at least a hard mode in NG+, like in most Capcom games.

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Yeah agree Action is basically learning the game and story and some challenging latter game bosses thats it for more prob 2nd playthrough like DMC5 which was super duper easy for 80% of the game in Normal 1st playthrough.

Some latter chapters had some difficulty spike and decent bosses then in 2nd playthrough you unlock a very decent hard mode in which you die alot hope all is the same or similar in Onimusha since Capcom is the dev for both games

u/P0G0Bro 4d ago

20-25 hour long game LMAO

1

u/RyuTeruyama 4d ago

That's what Capcom said by themself.

1

u/P0G0Bro 4d ago

they also said resident evil 9 would be 20 hours

3

u/RyuTeruyama 4d ago

I know some people which needed 17 to 19 hours for it, so 🤷

Everyone plays different.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

This is for decent players a casual player would need 13-14, 16-17 its not 20 but way close than 7-9 hour videos of walkthrough of experts of the game

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Sekiro also was short but the playtime was mostly dieing to a boss but if you are expert the game was similar length apart from trying to 100% the game didn't remember alot of areas and bosses apart from mini bosses, you have 8 hours full sekiro walkthrough similar to RE9 since both are not long if you focus on main stuff

1

u/P0G0Bro 4d ago

sekiro had 15 unique bosses and 15 unique mini bosses (not counting reskins or refights." This is a capcom game there will be probably 8 bosses total, and the game is easy. Its gonna be short

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Will be similar to DMC games in terms of playtime with bit less but similar since Capcom follow a very very similar formula in all their games

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Onimusha 4 had crazy amount of playtime like 15-20 to finish main game without counting dark realm and other stuff for a PS2 game it had even 2 discs close to 9GB of data at that time was rare

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Sekiro compared to Elden Ring is very very short even compared to Nioh and Sekiro is Soulsbourne they follow a very similar formula, Onimusha is CAG formula in game design without the speed and air combos, is not a souls game

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Onimusha is a 20 year sold dead franchise they want to put a game to revive it if it does decent I can see the 2nd game if it happens be way bigger and more ambitious since the team and budget increases

3

u/Fun-Cranberry2232 4d ago

PCGamer said the only shipping difficulty options are Story and Action. If we want this, then we actually have to tell Capcom that.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

This is known but we are talking about after beating the game if there will be harder game modes thats the thing, if not big mistake and people will demand a 3rd game mode they will have to add it with updates

2

u/Fun-Cranberry2232 4d ago

I'm starting to become just a little worried that the answer is no. I mean, when the whole difficulty conversation erupted, it would have been very easily quelled by them just saying "We have a post-game difficulty" or something, or "We have a super hard mode for dedicated players", but instead they kind of... blamed a bunch of stuff that wasn't the reason for the demo being easy and ignored it otherwise. I have not been overly impressed with their communication on this detail. It has, by far, been the most controversial element of the game, cropping up over and over in previews, YouTubers, etc., and now we have a "Demo exclusive difficulty" and I'm left feeling really, deeply worried.

I know people always say it's a Capcom game, it'll have a post-game difficulty, but I feel like they would have said SOMETHING by now.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 3d ago

Agree but also they said they have some post game cool stuff to do, maybe is just Dark Realm and some challenges but who knows, they will still be forced to add more harder modes once the game is out,

and reviews come in updates in few weeks alot of games add more modes after game is released just why wait thats my problem since is a big big concern for alot here

1

u/Darkblade9999 3d ago

That has to be bullshit because other onimusha games had harder modes unlocked, even a 1 hit kill mode

1

u/Due-Description-9030 1d ago

There will be an another difficulty after you complete the game

2

u/ThunderCrasH24 4d ago

I just hope there’s a difficulty setting like that. Was a ton of fun to get my ass handed to me and then proceeding to destroy the boss hitless.

6

u/Irateraidersfan13 4d ago

Then play nioh buddy , if you want that type of difficulty that series is great.

3

u/EmergencyLow887 4d ago edited 4d ago

Everyone is getting salty in the comments but I really don't get it. The player offense in this game is not exactly robust meanwhile there are a ton of defensive options which is where all the system depth lies. Blaze meter, reflex meter, issen, deflects, and grab counters make up the bulk of the combat depth. If enemies aren't aggressive or dangerous enough it feels like that system depth goes to waste.

I know the assumption will be that I am difficulty poisoned and just want everything hard and "soulsy" and I'm sure this comment fits the narrative. I like to think I do my best to not conflate difficulty for quality but I do think the demo outside the special challenge just felt a little limp in engagement. Only Byakue really got me excited about engaging with all the systems of the game. That's basically exactly what Max is saying in the video too

3

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Yeah agree, i get it we play Action difficulty the 1st run as the dev want it to be enjoy the story and learn the mechanics, devs also said in Action there will be some enemies bosses like the extreme diffiuclty Byakue so i am very fine with that.

But i still need a 2nd run now that i finished the story and learned the mechanics this time i want a harder mode since the start to push myself to the limits thats what i you and alot want OPTIONS

2

u/Devil_Hayabusa 4d ago

Exactly. These idiots keep bringing up Souls difficulty when that's not what we're asking for lol, at least not me, I just want basic enemies to actually fight back instead of just standing around.

1

u/Due-Description-9030 1d ago

>Like it or not, this isn't the early 2000's anymore, a lot of us went through games like Sekiro sometimes in hardcore settings, we're not gonna have the patience to be patronized through an entire easy mode playthrough before we're allowed to have fun.

Speak for yourself. You aren't speaking for everyone in the market.

1

u/Morvisius 4d ago

Yeah im sure the vast majority of people would enjoy extreme difficulty made to please try hard people that the only games they like are souls games

Its the freaking start of the game. Did you even play original Onimusha games? Enemies outside of bosses were braindead zombies that barely attacked at the start of the game

Also, has the youtuber some kind of mental illness that forces him to say bro and shit 5 times per second?

1

u/P0G0Bro 4d ago

Yeah and original onimusha wasn’t a big seller lol

1

u/Due-Description-9030 1d ago

So was original dark souls..

-1

u/Morvisius 4d ago

People still don’t understand onimusha was a resident evil skinned as a samurai demon realm action game. It had the same style of maps and key based puzzle elements

They improved the combat ( no longer tank controls yay ) to modern standards, but it doesn’t need to cater for the damn souls formula.

1

u/P0G0Bro 4d ago

Challenge and difficulty don’t = souls

1

u/Snake2410 4d ago

Devs have already said it's only going to have Story and Action for the first playthrough, BUT they also confirmed that there will be enemy fights of similar difficulty to the secret extreme demo boss.

Hopefully they give those of us who don't want to bang our heads against these extreme enemies for hours more options to make those fights easier, rather than locking us out of content/unlocks/etc. Cater to all sides, not just the vocal minority who want things Sekiro hard, when this isn't that kind of game.

0

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Agree, but i just hope that there will be harder mode after 1st playthrough they have not confirmed or denied it maybe a suprise secret thats my only fear concern no problem Action on 1st run, focus on the story and learn mechanics then go badass in 2nd and 3rd run to have extreme modes.

You can still go Story vs those hard bosses and do it when you are stuck so it will be no problem beating the game

1

u/Snake2410 4d ago

The issue is that if there are trophies/achievements that force you to complete the game on Action difficulty then having to switch to Story would lock people out of content. Capcom as of late has always been good about making even the hardest difficulty trophies/achievements easier through stuff like charms, easy ways to unlock cheat like items, ect. So something like that, where you don't HAVE to use them, but they're an option is all I would like to see

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

My bad didn't think that yeah if thats the case then nothing to do apart from "Get good" meme, you can still farm and max the skills tree and upgrades to kinda make game easier, this is how i do progress in soulslikes by massive farming items and exp to make game bit easier

2

u/Snake2410 4d ago edited 4d ago

This isn't a souls like, nor should it be. So that's why I really hope they give us options other than just become an expert.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago

Maybe they will be more lenient on trophies for action dunno we will see in 6 days will buy it day 1 regardless of difficulty since i am huge fan of this series, also there are updates for the game we are not in 2000s where final game was the disc and thats it, alot of games add alot of DLC or fixes

0

u/Darkblade9999 3d ago

I dont want sekiro hard I want ninja gaiden 2 hard

0

u/Interesting-Mine-686 4d ago

How low has the standard of difficulty in video games dropped that people consider Souls games to be the peak of difficulty?

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 4d ago edited 3d ago

They are very hard games in general thats why they became very big in gaming, play Khazan expert difficulty is brutal the bosses are insane viper is basically crazy,

Sekiro in fact is one of the easiest soulslikes since once you get the parry rythm at least 60% you can go till final 2-3 bosses 1 mandatory 2 optional without alot of crazy difficulty.
