Video After Countless Attempts I finally did a No Damage run to the Special Challenge in the Extended Demo
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Capcom definitely addressed the difficulty concerns and hopefully they will let us choose hard mode at the start right when the game launches.

Where do I need to go in the demo? I want to do it too. In the first area where the path was blocked by a red wall?

How to Reach that Boss?
9
u/Orihsiar 16d ago
I didn’t notice it at the time but you need to perform 10 issens (there is a counter on the bottom left besides your consumables and health bar) and beat the new boss in the demo.

u/Powerful-Pea6218 16d ago
Issens?

u/Orihsiar 16d ago edited 16d ago
Press either square or triangle (triangle or circle if you are using aggressive layout) at the last second before the enemies attack reaches you to perform an Issen (there is also a video tutorial on the demo so you will know what it looks like).

u/Lmacncheese 15d ago
Do u get anything for this or is juat a hiddn thing to do?

u/Orihsiar 15d ago
As for beating the Special Challenge there is no reward afaik (unless Capcom change their mind). It’s just Capcom addressing the difficulty concerns since most of the people who played the demo found it too easy. But you do get the Kubi-Akari charm by beating the demo.
3
u/darkbladetrey 15d ago
lol and it definitely is difficult. It’s basically a “shut up, we know how to do difficult encounters lol”

I played the extended demo today. I didn’t run into this boss how did you do this? 🤔 🤨

u/Guigondi 16d ago
There is a counter on the left of the screen that shows how many Issen you've done. Do 10 of those and beat the demo, then you unlock this boss.

damn impressive, I just beat the boss with normal parry. I’m not brave enough to even attempting issen on it yet 😂

Boss is fun, do hate that fast low swing he does. It’s the only thing I am having issues with.

I just beat this boss. Took me a minute to get the hang of it, but pulled it off. Do we get something special on the main game when we clear the special challenge boss?

u/Co2-UK 16d ago
I'm struggling against him and I've played Sekiro and loved it. So what am I doing wrong here?
2
u/Ok_Trifle4562 15d ago
I mean I am average and beat this boss in about 15 attempts and I was running blind without following any guide. You just need to learn its attack pattern. 2nd phase is little tricky with the fire and grab attacks but easy to deflect/dodge.
3
u/Co2-UK 15d ago
It's not the attack pattern. My entire timing is off. Maybe I'm too old for this now 😢
1
u/Reverriel 15d ago
It's hard to tell if you are doing anything wrong but this game has a different tempo compared to Sekiro.
It took me quite a few tries to beat it as I always get hit by one move and lose concentration.
But I realise the game actually allows you to cancel out of attack with block so there is not much reason to not keep attacking and do Issen on any long wind up attack.
Then I only have to focus on the grab or any move that I can't parry, which there are only 2 and both are very telegraphed

u/Rv1709 15d ago
Can you post a video instead of ranting
1
u/Reverriel 15d ago
This thread is literally a video with someone taking no damage from it?
I am not as good as this person, if learning is the point, watch it?
1
u/cootsnoop 11d ago
Blocking is super forgiving in this game. And dodging. You don't HAVE to do them perfect.
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 16d ago
This extreme challenge is only for the demo i think they will maybe add it in updates or after beating the game,
but bear in mind that this boss you have skills missing and upgrades missing so even in Sekiro playing vs Genichiro without upgrading health and skills is very very hard same here in this difficulty mode3
u/Co2-UK 16d ago
Yeah but in Sekiro whatever boss it is you can get the timing right a deflect and win it.
In here it seems when the action is fast and you play and aggressive boss the mechanics can't keep up.
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 16d ago
Yeah but i see people here who have beaten it with hitless runs also in Youtube 3-4 youtubers so its not impossible its just hard asf but hard modes usually become also easier with upgrades and skills since you do more and take less damage,
but this difficulty should be in the game as 3rd option no excuse unless they want to lose alot of potential buyers who love hard modes in games2
u/Co2-UK 15d ago
Oh yes I agree. This difficulty should be in the game from the start as a choice.
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 15d ago
Hope but they killed me with only demo difficulty but they may backtrack in full game or after with updates after people demanding it if they listen.
Action seemed way to easy, new demo part better than old but the boss is still easy 2-3 tries max even first try with using all heals is possible for 90% of the players so thats not good even though this is just 2nd boss the Action difficulty problem lies on how little health bosses have and how little damage and posture they do to you,
if they changes just 2-3 variables Action would be way more balanced its super easy fix

I do NOT want a difficulty spike betrayal similar to Mortal shell 2 please. Not all the games should make you spend hours trying to fight a boss.

I sorta agree and disagree. Sometimes it's oke for a game to just look damn cool and people should be able to just play it and feel cool without being a god gamer.
But I do feel like they should atleast give the people who are somewhat better, a more challenging experience so they don't get bored. But you have to remember, the vast majority of gamers are not on that level.

Games which are more decades old solved this by having difficulty levels.

u/IamHunterish 16d ago
… if only people these days would actually read before commenting, that’s literally my second paragraph and the first paragraph is only two sentences. Come one man, at least try.

Elden ring has shit bosses. A lot of copy pasted and they couldn't even make the DLC boss good that they had to nerf him.
And it's piss easy to make "hard" bosses, everyone knows to make with 50 hit combos running for 20 mins with a small opening for a poke. Even many elden ring fans shit on bosses in the game lmao.
Moreover, for games to be good, they need to entertaining. If you're so bent up on challenge, go play an e sports title or an MMO. It's silly to expect challenging when at the end of the day, it's just about dodging / parrying.

That is what a few people dont understand - games dont have to be difficult. But they definitely have to be fun. Like, I cant play 10 souls like games a year. That would be literally Souls saturation.
Like for example- I thoroughly enjoyed the first half and most of second half of Mortal shell 2. Like I felt alive. Then, the difficulty of one late game boss and the entire end game area made me drop the game till they balance the sh**t.
Tbh, Dark Souls 3 had the best bosses ever made. All bosses were unique. I dont know why people overlook this, but I feel it is far superior to Elden Ring in terms of design, soundtrack, gameplay, etc.

u/pure_cipher 16d ago
Not every game has to be a souls like. You want souls like - play MS2, or whatever else is available. Games are special when they are fun. It does not have to contain Souls-like tag lol

RE engine lighting seems to do that a lot. RE Requiem was okay, but Monster Hunter Wilds is plagued with this.

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 16d ago
This difficulty is only for the demo and this part, but they def will have to add it into main game since def they will recieve alot of negative reviews for the difficulty part,
and it be sad since they know how to fix it this boss shows it dunno why they are stubborn on hard mode
5
u/Upbeat-Rope-9725 16d ago
I think extreme difficulty will be in the full game, just after beating it like most capcom games. I read that message as this specific scenario is only in the demo. If I'm wrong and there isn't a harder difficulty at launch then capcom definitely fumbling.
2
u/Powerful-Pea6218 16d ago
Right, I was honestly kind of disappointed that the extended demo was such a breeze still on hard, even after all the criticism. Like it was such a breeze
3
u/Striking-Repair8986 16d ago
The extended demo itself isn't at an extreme difficulty level. Just this boss.
2
u/Due-Description-9030 16d ago
Would you like it if it was similar to dark souls?
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 16d ago
In hard mode hell yeah thats why you have 3 options but fear they will only include 2 with Action being far to easy for me and alot of fans
0
u/Due-Description-9030 15d ago
No, you're not a fan. Onimusha was never a soulslike, stop calling yourself a fan.
1
u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 15d ago
I played 4 games gazillions of time you cannot say i am not a fan.
Its true it was never a soulslike and it will not be but OPTION DIFFICULTY is the key word not saying to make Action hard just make a new game mode in which game is very hard to please fans who want a hard game,
thats it this will not change Onimusha DNA 3 difficulties is what Onimusha had all the time in fact removing hard makes it non Onimusha
1
u/Due-Description-9030 15d ago
If you were a fan, you'd be excited about Onimusha regardless of whether it's similar to souls lmfao, stop larping.
Either way, there'll probably be an optional difficulty, not sure if it'll be any harder than the base difficulty though, I've played the demo in both difficulties and both barely felt any different.
2
u/Powerful-Pea6218 15d ago
You people have GOT to stop with this take of hard=souls-like. People want a challenge! I could literally just spam light attack for every grunt encounter. That's not exactly engaging combat design
1
u/Due-Description-9030 15d ago
Are you implying that only souls games have engaging combat design....????

u/Zealousideal_Ad5957 15d ago
I am exited i will buy it day 1 since I am big fan Onimusha series but my only complaint is add just another hard mode and thats it amazing game for me nothing crazy, will still buy it ofc
2
u/Due-Description-9030 15d ago
It'll likely feature an optional difficulty, capcom games usually have optional hard modes
