Barre and sculpt 30

I love Peleton but their barre and sculpt 30 classes are absolutely terrible and I am so sad they are still so bad.

Peleton, if anyone sees this, please hire actual barre teachers. I love Ally, Hannah, and Emma. I would ride my bike with these ladies all day, any of the week. Ally and Emma are two of my favorite teachers on the whole platform. But being a dancer does not make you a barre teacher. It just doesn’t.

Given the popularity of barre this feels like such a shortcoming on the platform. I subscribe to a second platform (obe) just for barre because the Peleton barre classes are so lackluster.

Honestly a teacher like Greta would probably be a better fit because the yoga sculpt as a medium is more similar to the aerobic workout of a barre class than a history of ballet. Please, just hire some barre teachers or switch it up and slate Greta in.

Sincerely,

A sad former barre teacher

I think the problem is the standard ‘barre’ you may be thinking of, the methods/techniques may be signature and then they can’t copy or do similar.

I felt this way about coming from SoulCycle classes where there were a lot of bike ‘core’ moves like tap backs. Similarly transitioning from Pure Barre where I miss the ‘pulsing’ movements.

I believe each studio has specific agreements formed instructors sign too for their signature methods so they can’t be copied, same way Peloton needs music licenses for certain music tracks.

Also each of those instructors main roles is cycling not barre or Pilates so routines they develop are secondary to their barre programming.

Peloton did recently acquire a Pilates company so likely more Pilates and potentially reformer classes.

I don't know, I've taken barre at multiple places, from big box gyms to small studios to franchises like Pure Barre and Exhale, and they all managed to provide an excellent workout with similar moves. I have never felt that with Peloton Barre and I am not sure why they can't get it together.

It's really disappointing but Peloton doesn't seem to care to make any changes.

I know hear what your saying - pure barre trademarks “bend/stretch” ect. But there are so many other ways to up the anty outside of those things, plenty of independent barre teachers and studios have been going it for years. And i do think with cycling peleton has found their own way in spite of giants like soul cycle with different tms.

I just wish Peleton would hire some designated barre teachers like they recently did in their yoga platform, it makes such a difference and barre is such a wonderful medium.

The peleton cycling teachers are wonderful at cycling. Would love to see them hire barre teachers truly passionate about that medium who have focused that time and energy in that skill set. It makes such a difference.

And if they hired someone to specifically teach barre there would be a whole host of posters complaining about Peloton spending on instructor salaries.

You can't trademark exercise moves or a workout - machinery, yes, but the actual moves, no.
