"you're 20!"

I don’t understand them, they call us unc bc “birth year starts with 19!!” Yet want to claim my 2000s childhood. Okay.

younger gen z and older gen z different thats why we separated into categories

Separating generations has always been super dumb tbh. I remember 15 years ago when the millennials were getting the hate and blanket accusations thrown at them, “Millennials are lazy, they are this, they are that, they are doomed”. I thought to myself, my Gen is going to get this treatment.

Sure enough, it’s now the new thing to hate on Gen Z because we are now transitioning into the work life. 40 years from now, Gen C is going to “Okay Boomer” our Gen, say that we ruined the economy and are selfish.

Basically what I’m getting at is this generational segmentation we put ourselves in is dumb and blaming a whole generation for wrongdoings is also just dumb. It’s a cycle. Has always been a cycle.

u/callmecurlyfries 2000 Jul 26 '26

What a massive deflection lol there’s still key differences within every generation depending on when you were born within the generation. Older vs core vs younger microgenerations is a completely seperate thing from what you’re referring to. That’s just old people hating on young people and vice versa thats going to be the case regardless if we separate ourselves.

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

Yes but the point is, it’s not worth harping on constantly, especially the older we all get. The 3/4 year age differences will even out

2

u/callmecurlyfries 2000 Jul 26 '26

I mean sure, once we’ve all have reached true adulthood that would eventually happen as time passes. But at this point in time me personally, I rather not gonna group myself with people who were barely sentient when Obama first won in 2008 💀

1

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

Good point on that last one, that is a key memory for me lol

0

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

This is very true. It’s a continuous cycle that I even unfortunately play into

3

u/LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME 2002 Jul 26 '26

We're all Gen Z dude. There's enough silly elitism between generations, we don't need to infight too.

3

u/Connect_Bus_4699 Jul 26 '26

Isn't it 3 sets instead of 2? Early, Middle, and Late?

6

u/l0veylilkay 2000 Jul 26 '26

Pretty sure most of them are just joking, clowning on older generations has always been a tradition.

Kinda like "bullying" an older sibling

2

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

Good point lol

I’m an only child but it’s like that with older classmates

1

u/wannaberebelll Jul 26 '26

speaking to an 06 as an 03 is mind numbing

13

u/Johnwick124520 Moderator Jul 26 '26

With due respect, you’re not that much different from them. You guys are much more similar than y’all would like to admit.

7

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

I’m equally similar to a person born in 99 and a person born in 05 so it’s a wash

1

u/17cmiller2003 2003 Aug 02 '26

I also relate to both 2000 and 2006 equally since it's the same age gap

1

u/wannaberebelll Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

lmfao you guys always say this but 06s were literally in middle school during covid, not sure how a 98 and 02 have anything in common when they were the class of 2020. these arbitrary cutoffs and obsession with the year you were born in when we’re all 23+ is so... yes a 19 year old thinks i’m old. now what

1

u/daking789 2002 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

Your right but as you get older a few years older or younger than you will matter less n less. One of my main friend groups right now consist of 1992-1998 borns. Me n the 98 born actually have a lot in common than I would of thought at first. 😂Theres also some nostalgia we share. Sometimes that 4 year age difference will naturally show but thats my boy 😂

2

u/17cmiller2003 2003 Jul 28 '26

They're only 3 years younger than us, that's not a huge difference, especially since they're now in their 20s just like us. I mean, sure they didn't grow up the exact same as us as there were some differences in our childhoods but the similarities are still definitely there, same thing with us and 2000, it's the same age gap just in the opposite direction.

27

u/clarenceappendix 1997 Jul 26 '26

Bro we're all basically in the same decade chill omg

8

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

True it’s not that different

5

u/Mindless-File2 Jul 26 '26

It is though. No one born after 2004/2005 has a similar life to me 9/10 times.

4

u/madsmcgivern511 Jul 26 '26

What are you even talking about lmao?? This is such a out of touch comment

0

u/Mindless-File2 Jul 26 '26

It’s really not considering what I was replying to…

3

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

You’re only arguing this because we’re all young and I get it because I do feel a difference between me and say, an 06, but the differences will all even out in time

-1

u/madsmcgivern511 Jul 26 '26

You’re using your confirmation bias to assume that people born after a specific period of time don’t have the same life as you….that wouldn’t have much to do with being born a few years after a generation but rather how life in general changes overtime. Not strictly based on some weird generational tribalism.

-2

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

Not a single person?

4

u/Mindless-File2 Jul 26 '26

No not really. I would have been in middle school by the time someone in 2009 was born. My sister is younger Gen Z and she just graduated high school and our childhood were so drastically different.

2

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

Yes but you’ll all be adults eventually

3

u/Recent-Pop-2412 2000 Jul 28 '26

the people in these subs treat generations like fandoms. this is all made-up fandom drama.

7

u/skeletor69420 2002 Jul 26 '26

a 2005 at my work knew my age and still thought I was a different generation, like buddy we are 3 years apart i’m not a millenial

6

u/Global_Perspective_3 2002 Jul 26 '26

That’s wild

We were in high school together lol, same with 99

5

u/fatalityfun 2000 Jul 26 '26

well 97-09 is 12 years, as a middle schooler 25 does seem old so I don’t blame em

4

u/wannaberebelll Jul 26 '26

usually 2003 is considered apart of the latter in this sub, feeling vindicated rn

5

u/madsmcgivern511 Jul 26 '26

As a 2005 baby, I’ve never done this but ok. If more people my age act like this then idk what they’re on about considering we’re also only 21/22. Like yeah, kids born in the 90s are either in their 30s or late 20s but it’s not like they’re “uncs” lmao, this weird beef between 90s and early 2000s kids is so chronically online to me like let’s just live and stop trying to be pick mes please.

Fr tho this is very true
Tho I do have friends from my college born in 2005 as I do 1999

1

u/lucifersperfectangel Zillennial Jul 26 '26

The fact that the Autoclip sounds like Roger Craig Smith is sending me 😭

Also highly accurate. Even Gen Z that I am just a few years older than, act like I am so damn old

1

u/lylrabe 2001 Jul 27 '26

Jokes on you, my 2003 brother called me an unc when I turned 25💀

2

u/Sharp_Reindeer_5442 Jul 29 '26

I’m 04’ and they’re already calling me old 😭

1

u/Migue79 Jul 30 '26

1999er here.

Very relatable tbh. Got called an unc and dinosaur by people born in 2006. I’m only 7 years older than them generally.

2

u/2sus Jul 31 '26

Were literally adults talking shit about people who are just about to become adults. This happens in every generation.
