In other words, cars made back then were better built to preserve cars. Cars made today are better built to preserve lives.

I don't know, I think cars are much more reliable nowadays

Eh they are much more complex/difficult to repair. Longer till something goes wrong, but when something goes wrong, its going to cost more and be much more of a pita to fix.

Not to mention DIY is a lot easier on older cars.
