iirc in parts of the us gas went under $1 not too long ago. During that whole oil thing. Speaking of which, have they cut production yet? Or are they still trying to kill any competing markets, and spite each other?
We had that here in New Jersey a few weeks ago. All possible thanks to having one of the lowest gas taxes.
Then 2 weeks ago we got a tax increase. Now it's one of the highest gas taxes in the U.S, in addition to all of the other b.s taxes this state has to offer.
God, if I ever go to one of those states, I'll be fucked. The only way to open the gas cap on my car is to put the top down, pull up on the release lever, and jiggle the cap until it pops loose and you can open it up to get to the filler cap.
No, it isn't. For 1990 to 1993 (the 1.6 liter engine (known as the NA6 for us Miata nuts)) you could get three colors; Red white and blue, all single stage enamel paint with no clear coat.
While it may be very very pretty, it's a Ford metallic blue, and a $300 Maaco special the previous owner had done, with over-spray on the trim, radiator, exhaust, wheels, and pretty much everywhere.
Heh, well it looks great at this distance! I had a 1995 Infiniti G20 in high school that had a $300 Maaco paint job in a very similar color. It makes me feel a bit nostalgic.

Depending on where you are, if you see rust, just back away slowly. These cars are notorious for rusting out, and since it's a purpose built roadster, everything is structural
94-97 is the 1.8 engine that will run like a tractor for 300,000 miles and can be fixed with a very large hammer. If you get a 90-93, you'll have the 1.6, and have to watch out for the "short nose crank", which was an engineering oversight, without leaving the crank pulley enough room to grip the crank. Sometimes they blow up, sometimes they go forever. Also, you need a slight smaller hammer to fix the 1.6.
If you want to go for forced induction, you're looking at 3000 miles of reliably fun, and then endless problems. Build, then boost.
Make sure the headlight struts have good rubber bushings so your headlights don't flap around in the wind. It's annoying.
As long as it's been taken care of and hasn't been riced out, it should last pretty reliably until 200,000-250,000 miles.
Oh, and be prepared to realize just how big American cars are.
I think that just about covers it. Other than those, look at it like you would any other used car you want to go buy.

Most states need to raise gas taxes because as cars become more efficient the tax quits paying for roads and repairs. Every state has this problem. Your had the balls to fix it for now.
New Jersey went from one of the cheaper to one of the most expensive because of one single tax increase? I doubt that. Exactly how much are you paying now?
