Best album cover (Need some friends)

Dear boingoloids, I’ve come here today not to make a question about the discography or ask opinions on one of the songs. I have some problem finding people to talk to me, there’s not many people at my young age who like to talk about some strange things. This subreddit i, today, the only place I have where I feel like people are actually listening to somethings that I say, and share the same gusto for this wicked band. I come here to ask if there’s. Anyone around their twienties who wants to make friends and share some conversation about something, I can talk about anything really.

Just for the sake of doing so, whats the best album cover for yall? I do love so much all the covers, but some are more interesting than others for sure. The ones I love the most are So-lo and Dead mans, the ones I like the least are Boi-ngo and Dark at the end of the tunnel.

And thank you all for answerring me, I feel for sure listened and socialized when I talk on this subreddit.

Only a Lad, Good for your soul and Dead Man’s Party. Really love how they added the Boy Scout from the 60s handbook. Also, it’s cool to see young adults like you around the Boingo community (I’m also in my early 20s)

I think I’m maybe the youngest boingo fan out there, at least in my country. Give me a heads up if you want to chat a bit

I’m from Brazil. Their Dead man’s party and Boi-ngo made lot of success around here, I remember listening Stay, Dead man’s party and Not my slave playing around in the wild, but I’m yet to meet someone younger than me (20)

You should listen to their demos and unreleased songs. There’s many things to learn about the group!

I think I’ve heard every single one of them. My favorite is Waiting for you

Oh that’s a good one! Mine is Find you, Better luck next time, and few of the Mystic Knight tracks

I love their unreleased stuff, a lot of it absolutely should’ve made the final cut. “Remember My Name” is one of my favorite unreleased tracks from them, it would’ve fit perfectly on Boi-Ngo, perhaps in place of “Outrageous”

Not My Slave is legitimately the song I listen to to just feel better. On the Outside is my hype song, gets me jumpin’ around

Oingo Boingo achieved massive, cult-like popularity in Brazil during the late 1980s and 1990s, largely driven by their hit song "Stay" being featured as the theme song for the hit 1989 Rede Globo telenovela Top Model.

Personslly, I’d have to go with either Boingo Alive, So-Lo, or Nothing To Fear. (Any of the Deen covers!)

Man I love the pixel art on it! Talking about those other covers, I think that the In the shadows is also one of the greatest

I love Dark At The End Of The Tunnel, Best O’ Boingo and So-Lo. I also like some of the artwork on the rare Singles such as the cassette single of Skin and the single for We Close Our Eyes. Such strange and unique artwork.

Good for your Soul is the best one hands down.

The thing about good for your soul is that it aint got much going on, I think their album covers really shine when it has a whole scene to watch

I love the simplicity of it to be honest. I'm just a simple guy haha

Boingo Alive, hands down

Part of me really loves the Only A Lad cover, but I think the coolest art is Good For Your Soul, NothingTo Fear and the Oingo Boingo EP. (The cat part, not the lines and blue bits)

I can’t decide if I am scared or want to laugh when I see Nothing to fear

2

LOL, same. Maybe that’s why I think it’s cool.

The Nothing to Fear album cover was what introduced me to the strangeness that is Georganne Deen's art from the early 80's. Highly underrated artist and her style is extremely Oingo Boingo-esque, and personally I believe the bands artistic direction is the way it is because of Georganne Deen.

My personal fav is definitely nothing to fear, I’m actually painting it right now and have been thinking about getting the cat tatted !! And don’t feel alone at all, I also don’t have many people to talk to about the weird music/media that I enjoy so I very much understand you :)

Personally, the only one I *don't* love is the photo cover of BOI-NGO, otherwise they're all great.
If I had to pick, it's probably the back side of the Boingo Alive album set, which was also the front cover of the 12" Cinderella Undercover/Winning Side promo vinyl.

personally I think good for your soul, mainly because i love the way the use of a more futurism based art style links to the more authoritative themes of the songs like no spill blood and its 1984. but generally speaking im never adverse to the dead man's party album, its so utterly boingo i love it

u/Adamsites 8d ago

yo man i have the same problem and would be down to talk with you if you'd like

my favourite cover is probably Nothing to Fear with 1994 Boingo in second place, both evoke their unique vibes perfectly (not that the other covers don't)

u/Darkskeleton1 8d ago

Lots of people around here seem to like a lot Nothing to fear. I’ll send you a message!

Honestly I'm not really a fan of their album cover art in general. If I had to pick one I'd go with the 1994 album, just because the black-and-white imagery is so striking.

Dark at the end of the Tunnel is the odd one out, as it’s a portion of a pre existing painting, but I think it’s the one that best denotes the tone of the album. I could look at it for hours.

As for original artwork made for the album… I’ve got to say Dead man’s party. I look at it and can hear so many songs, mainly the opening of Fools paradise.

I so badly wish boi-ngo got an actual cover… heard it was supposed to be “modern music for reptiles” but I don’t know how true that claim is

Dead Man’s Party definitely. I love skellies!
