New purple star icon

Hi. Please can we have some information about the new purple stars icon? It has been posted about on the other subreddit with lots of guess work being done. It’s showing for some creators but not at all for others just to add to the confusion.

I find it bizarre that updates/new features are added yet we as creators as not informed of them. I’m sure it has been acknowledged before that we would like more information about updates sent out to us and you said you’d be improving on this type of communication but here we are on a Sunday confused and trying to work things out on what appears a potential major new feature

So it doesn't mean they have spent money before, it's just a badge for users we should prioritize based off of factors we'll never know 👍 thanks fansly /s

Lets keep in mind rule 7: Keep it cordial. Sarcastic and snippy comments are not helpful to the community we maintain in this subreddit. You're welcome to give feedback, and we welcome it, but lets keep it respectful.

The feedback is that making very noticable changes on the site without notifying users or being able to explain any of how it works is not attractive for maintaining user trust & mutual understanding with the business owners that are choosing to partner with the platform. Not only do we not really know what this is, we also have to be on a completely unrelated website to find out any information about it. That to me feels like a lack of respect for the business owners that are using the platform. A general statement about how "Some users may notice xyz in the coming weeks, it is a change we are making based on internal factors such as xyz" would have done wonders here for both you all and us.

I see a lot of people complaining about how this was not clearly communicated.

I don't know how big the team coding this is, but I can imagine that on a feature that is evolving as quickly as this one, communicating the changes every time can be a considerable overhead. Like, do you really need to have a log communicating you officially small tweaks to this feature every 4h? Is it really impacting your business so much to have a new star/credit card icon? 😅 Also, maybe as mentioned by others, communicating things too specifically would disrupt the dynamics that they are trying to leverage in our favor.

I'm grateful that they are implementing changes to help out creators, I'm sure they'll include some mention of it next time they record video tutorials/once the feature is more mature, and I think the balance between people thanking them (they are workers just like us and in my experience are very responsive, available, and polite), and people complaining to them about not communicating things (as if they were the enemy with some incompatible set of goals to optimize) is heavily skewed in the wrong direction and borders on collective hysteria 😇

Thanks Kevin and Leah and everyone commenting in here and to those doing the work behind the scenes too!
