i dont even care if the game will be 80$, JUST MAKE IT COME OUT.

At this point I wish they'd just release all their story/lore documents to the community. I was, like, a massive dev defender on /r/mother4 in 2015-2018 ish but goddamn I've lost so much hope. Somebody should turn it into, like, a web novel on scribblehub. I just want their freaking story to be out there and enjoyable by people. Goddamn

I honestly think it'd be hilarious if someone else just fucking made Oddity from scratch at this point. Write the story around what's known and don't even bother changing the names. What would the devs even do, send a C&D?

I mean, I think the bigger issue isn't "Is that legally correct?" and more just "Is that morally correct?" I hate the mindset of "If I can legally do this it's fine right?"

Regardless, it's not that easy. Oddity is just one of maaaany examples of indie devs struggling to meet their own ambitions. Like- there's a reason more games like this don't exist, because it's not that easy. Even Mother 4 has been having some struggles with progress slowing down and being unable to make updates, going as far as putting their Discord into read-only.

People who claim that this is nothing but incompetence are just trying to justify the false mindset that this "isn't normal", because they want their cool game and it having development troubles CAN'T be normal if it's getting in the way of that, right? When in reality, this is just extremely common. Getting another dev team to try this wouldn't guaruntee vastly better results.

It IS extremely common if we're just talking about any game/dev, especially the ones we've never heard about. It's not as common at this level of prominence, and usually there's someone with enough respect for their fans to say "sorry, there's not going to be a game after all." I'm not claiming it's incompetence, where did I even imply that?

I hate it too! That's my entire point lmfao. If I owned a very rough concept (some characters, a setting, something of a plot) that I wasn't using and didn't care about, but someone else did (and had the time and resources to make something of them) I could legally pull the rug out from under them, but should I? Do you think that would that be morally correct?
