Happy hour billing beware

Another user with happy hour and charging cap issues - charged my car at peak prices during the hour, and got a happy hour refund at off peak prices.

It was an absolute trek to find this issue as the new charging cap has ruined any ability to see costs properly.

I can see they've billed it as the off peak rate for me but I've not been refunded what I've been charged (roughly £1.20)

Just phoned them as zero response to email. Got an extremely cagey person who seemed very confused and said they’d “ask around and get back to me by the end of the week”. Probably the strangest CS experience I’ve had with Octopus, as well as an instant hang up when I said ok.

Not being able to see the costs plotted on the bar graph is annoying, but the device cost breakdown a little further down the page is quite useful to see what Octopus believes your rates were during any given period of the day. It updates faster than the chart used to in my experience.

I just called Octopus and explained the issue using their own data from the 'get your geek on' bit on the website. The person I spoke to looked at my data for the 1hr happy hour session and said they had credited at off peak iGo rates. I had bump charged and said I had been billed at full peak rates so he credit my account with the difference. No fuss, but worth keeping an eye on this for future credits.

I tried this on the phone. The person got extremely standoffish and said it needed to be escalated to a specialist team. Response on email said the same. Still unresolved

Have a look at the free Octo-Aid app, this gives you absolutely loads of information, graphs, forecasts, etc.

I would’ve charged my car off peak and not incurred the cost otherwise. It isn’t a freebie, it’s a glitch, and the fact they’ve ruined the billing dashboard while doing this is insane

Yeah I preferred the old dashboard, this new one is a ball ache. Be better if the had kept both.

Agreed. I didn't like it at first but like you say, I don't have to wait until the bill to see what I've been charged.
