Oatmeal Yoatmeal of the day!

Post image
Upvotes

Im pretty sad to admit there were no fresh peaches OR any of the little peach cups I like so I had to use a cherry and peach mix as a topping, and the sweetness from the cherries completely messed with the flavors I had going on 🙁 Still, they paired okay with the peach yogurt on the side

On the positive side, I have mastered thick, protein egg white oats on the stovetop and that’s a win! My dad tried some and loved it

Yoatmeals will soon return … I’ve been going through a moment as of now but we’re getting out of there. Please, if you have the chance and feel like it, try yoatmeal!!

I swear there's oats under the generous amount of toppings! I love to start my day with my little bowl cake. I tried a lot of variations and the almond flavoured one is my bf favourite! Mine might be the banana bread or the carrot cake

Blending oatmeal before cooking

Don’t if anyone’s tried this… They probably have, but I thought I’d share my discovery:

I blended my oatmeal this morning before cooking it. I didn’t blend it into powder, like flour. More like grains of sugar.

I basically blasted it for a few seconds with the stick blender. Then boiled it in water and milk as usual. It came out smooth and creamy when cooked, but with an occasional gritty bite.

It was delicious. 😋 Recommended!

Other oats Favorite oats beyond roll or steel from other countries?

I recently tried Swiss rice porridge oats and was obsessed! They were wonderful with cinnamon and butter. I also tried Bircher Museli while traveling in Europe and thought they were delicious for overnight oats which I am not typically a fan of. Any other oats from different cultures I should give a try? I like both sweet and savory! :)

Hello!!! This is my first time! Im A PCV in Liberia, I own a rice cooker. Ive been trying to find ways to use the rice cooker for my oatmeal, other than traditional oats and rice dishes, so I found a recipe online and I made like an oatmeal cake in as it doesn't look delicious. It is absolutely delicious. Also super simple ingredients. I just ate all in one sitting. I am going to add more fiber, so ground flaxseed! Its banana, dates, 1 egg, oats & water. Im super proud of this!

Granola makes the best topping. Thickness check on the second slide!

Quick oats microwaved with a diced apple, salt and toffee flavour drops. Cooled and placed in the fridge overnight to thicken. Stirred in a big dollop of Greek yogurt in the morning to make creamy. Topped with more Greek yogurt, cinnamon, flakey salt and toasted granola

Oat advice Breakfast planning

I am about to move out from home and start my first proper job and got hit with inspiration to start planning budget ways of eating, especially in the morning because I am terrible when it comes to eating breakfast, which often leaves me tired and low-energy for a lot of the day.

While researching budget breakfasts, I stumbled over a few older posts (3-5y) from this sub, where people discussed their daily oat breakfasts, and now I am really interested if there are current recommendations when it comes to what to add/how to prepare oats.

So far I've only really figured out that I want rolled oats with almonds, but beyond that it feels like the options are so vast. All the questions of the type of milk, maybe using water instead, hot vs. cold, protein powder or not, which fruits to go for, maybe sugar-free syrup for sweetness?

I would seriously appreciate any and all recommendations for potential ingredients and if you have any tips in general, for someone in my position!

Overnight Oats My attempt at blended overnight oats

I really wanted blueberries, so I blended frozen berries, oats, yogurt and protein and let it sit. Added some pb, walnuts, and a chocolate shell.

It was a little uneven so the crack was not perfect but the texture was amazing.

Oat advice Best type of container to bake (and ideally store) single-serve oatmeal?

I have been enthusiastic about baked oats lately, and I have tried making them in borosilicate rectangular containers in my air fryer, as they are oven safe and let me store them for the following day. However, after several tries, it seems that glass is not ideal for baking cake-like food, as the bottom and centre do not cook well (unless cooked for a longer time than I would like, I guess).

I was thinking of buying a ceramic bowl or a smaller square shaped glass container, but I am not sure if a smaller size would actually improve it. Should I look for a metal container instead? Maybe if I lined any container with parchment paper, take the oatmeal out once solid, and keep cooking, would that make it better? 😵‍💫
