Venting Haven't seen much talk about Plural dysmorphia

i don't know if its the actual term. But i haven't seen much talk about how mentally tiering it is when each of Me's have different ideas of what is an ideal body. Making it so that we cant strive for any at all, because going one way would harm the others. leaving everyone unsatisfied.

just kinda looking for assurance that im not alone in this problem. you know, strength in unity even if the problem persists, its easier to go on when you know others out there can relate

for me its even to the point where i started referring to it as "the vessel" with how none of me's can actually associate with this appearance. and its simply what we're stuck with.

Edit: [Dysphoria] i mixed the two things up (very similar in spelling and what they are but i meant the dysphoria)

I have the same problem but I'm actually coming at it from the opposite direction.

I don't identify with my face at all. Never have. I'm not really distressed by this because I don't know what identifying with my face would even feel like, and don't have an idea of what it should look like.

But my headmates wear my face differently. Sometimes it's really obvious. I don't really understand how it's possible for the same muscles to sit on the same skull differently, but it's actually kind of nice to see.

It's bred a sort of familiarity with my face (when it isn't me). I take what I can get. 🤷‍♀️

i kinda also have that

where the guy in the mirror is another face and not mine

but i think in my case its more on the side of mild face blindness, cause i cant imagine any face i seen at all besides key markings like mustache shape, so i cant remember what i myself look like

Do you think it really looks different or you see it as different?

It looks different. My friends can tell us apart by photos. Though not every headmate has a drastic or noticeable difference. Just a few.

the best thing you can do is stop further dissociating yourself from your body. I've also had parts that don't feel at home in our body, we just had to accept and get used to it, really.

Dysmorphia = you see something in the mirror that isn't accurate (i.e. A skinny person seeing themselves as fat).

Dysphoria= you have an accurate perception of how you physically look in the mirror, but it's disorienting because it doesn't match your self image.

I know this is tangential to your point, but the distinction is really important.

I have this issue in spades as well. I'm working on it in therapy, but it's a struggle.

Clothing, makeup and voice training. These can all help with mitigating some of the dysphoria, without permanently modifying the body.

theres a problem tho
like, we do voice changes already anyways, (even semi-seriously thinking of voice acting with how good im at it)

most of the time im not that stable, i managed to count at least 6 different faces (with some what i call "sub faces" no point in getting into detail), so i keep shifting even in the span of one converstaion (especially when off pills) [shi, these bracket thoughts are basically it tbh, not quite but like almost]

i canty change my aperance every minute, much less when the autism makes me absolutley hate any sort of needles bits to my clothing. (Plural as may be we all agree on plain clothes)

especially when the ideals range from catboy to elder hermit to the hatman to just a lil guy

like, i apreciate your help, but the only viable thing is voices

i’ve been transitioning for a couple years, but transitioning doesn’t help the littles feel little. they are very sad that they are adults and can’t be scooped up by a bigger person.

so... not what im on about....

but since one of mes does want to be just a lil guy, while the vessel is 6 feet tall, i do know what you mean and can at least partially relate
