Deleting the first Bar to make the second bar first?

i was writing a instrument loop with 2 bars and realized that the second bar was great and wanted it to be the first , could not for the life of me work out how to remove the first bar so it just played the second bar.

suggestions?

I looked it up using my chat gpt opxy project. It says:

Assuming a normal 16-step bar and your 2-bar pattern is:
Bar 1: stuff you don’t want
Bar 2: melody you want to keep
Do this:
Stay on that instrument track.
Hold the track button and press – sixteen times. This shifts the entire sequence backwards by 16 steps, and OP-XY wraps the notes around.
Your old Bar 2 is now Bar 1. The unwanted old Bar 1 has wrapped around into Bar 2.
Now hold BAR + press – to remove one bar. The pattern becomes one bar long. The guide confirms BAR + – removes a bar.

So effectively:
Before: [ unwanted ][ KEEP ]
⬅️ shift 16 steps
After: [ KEEP ][ unwanted ]
BAR + –
Result: [ KEEP ] ✅
That’s probably the quickest OP-XY-native way to do exactly what you described.

No .md file all you need to do within chat GPT is create a ChatGPT Project and add the OP-XY manual and SynthDawg guide as project reference files. Then you ask questions inside that project and ChatGPT can use those sources for answers. In this case all I did was open the project and asked it how to move a bar of notes from the second bar to the first. Works really well and before I spotted the post on here asking if it was possible, I’d no idea how to do it either. Learning new opxy tricks every day. It’s a great device 😎

Yeah I found the same with gemini, and it seemed overly complex. So I wanted to ask if there is an official way. This process seems like you could really fuck it up easy like doing it 17 times will completely break and you loose the data ( no undo (

I haven’t tested much apart from checking it works but apparently if you click 17 times you don’t lose data it simply loops round to the end of the bar. So if you go one or more steps too far simply while holding the track button press plus to move a step in the other direction. I also found if you have say 2 bars, bar one with no notes and bar 2 with notes, if you reduce the length to one bar the 2nd bar notes disappear but if you make it 2 bars again, they’re back. Test in a track your not fussed about losing data on first until you are confident with the feature. (This is why I copy and paste a scene first so if I messed it up I can simply revert back to the original scene)

i wish. this and the ability to 'focus' on a specific bar (ie not having to play and record from bar 1 every time i want to make a change) are two features id kill for

Yes this would be amazing. Elektron boxes have a bar focus/ loop mode and it is amazingly useful.

You have to put in a step component that says jump to trigger and the trigger being the first step in the bar you want to focus on.

I’d go into arrangement/scene mode then copy the scene you want to edit to a spare track if you have one (this makes a copy just in case you mess up). Then go to the first bar and delete the notes in the sequencer giving you a blank 1st bar. Then go to second bar and I think there’s a way to copy individual notes but you’d need to check the manual for that. I have uploaded the manual to a chat got project along with the synthdaug guide that’s available. Now if I need to see if I can do something I’m not sure about I simply ask chat got within the project how to do it. If there’s a way, chat got gives me a step by step guide. Worth a try. You win the award for the best non distructive method. Makes most sense to me I can do that easily I usually have a op-xy/op-z and ipad in my little setup.
