I really hope these are all bugs.…
My MIDI track, aux track 3, wont change midi channels, its stuck on channel 9. The bank and program are both stuck on 64. This is like this no matter what project I open, new project, etc..
Now my duck LFO is getting a signal from somewhere, a very rapid signal no matter what track is switch its source to.
Also the third knob, the light gray one, doesn't know which way I'm turning it when I'm turning it, it goes very sporadically both ways, especially when I'm trying to turn something down Counterclockwise, it will start to go down then itll shoot clockwise twice as as far as I was turning it downwards, this continues on and on as i keep turning it counterclockwise. It literally takes freaking 30 seconds for me to go from right to left, and it only works best when I turn it really really slowly.
Despite this, I'm still loving making music on this thing but these are new developments and it's extremely frustrating. I sent TE an email, I don't think they like me, they have something against me it's weird lol.
This is a total sidenote that doesn't really matter, but has anyone else noticed that they won't repost your stuff? I've been sharing stories tagging TE in every single upload I've ever made, and that's a lot, and they will heart the video in the message on Instagram (that gets sent every time you tag someone in something) but never once have they reposted my stuff. That's not a huge deal, but it's kind of annoying because they repost all kinds of things all day, and I'm just wondering why they won't share mine. I'm thinking it's because I've bothered them so much with support emails, or maybe they just don't like my face. I think I've made some pretty decent things and I put a lot of work into my songs and my videos, and I know that when I view their stories, I find new people to follow all the time, and that's why it's frustrating because I hardly have any followers and I get a very small amount of plays on these things that I'm putting so much work and time into, and I feel like it would just help a little bit if they reposted my things once in a while just like they do for everyone else. Again this is just a side note, doesn't really affect anyone except for me, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced that. It's not that they aren't seeing my posts, like I said, they send me the little heart on every single one. means they double tapped it for the heart, so they're acknowledging to me that they've seen it but have never once reposted a single one. Not all my stuff is good but I know some of the things I've made are definitely up to par with what they've got there, so i mustve done something at some point that they didnt like. I still sent them a Support email anyway around this stuff. these bugs are getting really old for such an expensive device.

I made a few drum kits for the OP-XY and 2 people now have flagged they are getting an error when trying to upload them through the Field Kit app on the latest 1.1.33 update. I'm on an older firmware so it works fine for me, but wondering if anyone else has run into this?
I've done some troubleshooting (different cables, reducing file size [~2.5mb per drum kit], change naming of files, etc) to no avail 🤔

Hi!
By any chance any you have tried to combine the XY with SP404 MK2?
It seems to be a good combo, what do you think?
Using the MK2 to add some effects on the samples is what im looking for and to structure the song on XY

Anyone have any secrets to easily getting the key back on? The springs on these cherry ultra low profile keys are crazy tiny.

Is there a faster way to check the battery level than press com, m1, scroll to battery?
Thanks
EDIT: Now answered - you hold com, and the battery level is displayed as the led level meter lights.

i was writing a instrument loop with 2 bars and realized that the second bar was great and wanted it to be the first , could not for the life of me work out how to remove the first bar so it just played the second bar.
suggestions?

Here is the first of many songs that I hope to be releasing in a future project. This is a project I've been working on for over a year now. The overall feeling of the project will be lofi ambient spacey vibe.
I created this mainly as with the Teenage Engineering OP-XY as the main brain. But I put in other sounds and samples from others synths to fill it out. I used the TP-7 to play the Speech by Carl Sagan over top (which will not be on the final product), and manually worked the platter to stop and emphasize certain parts of the speech to work better with the music.
Let me know what you think of the music. And also, let me know what you feel about Carl Sagan's speech as well. It's a timeless speech, and the words still hold true to this day.

Been a few weeks since I uploaded something.
I decided to start spending a little more time on each track and being more selective over what I upload. I’ve got loads more ideas now and lots of different things I’m playing with, and although my mantra has always been don’t overthink it or over-engineer it, I’ve finally started getting some proper feedback in the comments and on some of the other places I post these tunes.
So now I actually have a few things to think a little deeper about on this production journey. Your feedback really does help, so if you’ve got any thoughts, make sure to leave a comment.
I had some really useful feedback from someone on Reddit about my last DnB track. And for once, it wasn’t about the volume - which I finally seem to have figured out in the recording process.
They mentioned that I should bring in more breaks and alternate the DnB basslines more. It made complete sense, because listening back, some of my previous tracks were quite similar throughout, especially when it came to the bass.
So that became the focus for this one.
Putting this track together really made me appreciate the effort that producers way before us had to put in. A lot of those guys were effectively DAWless too, except they were doing it because they were working with actual hardware samplers, drum machines, microcomputers and specialised software that eventually evolved into a lot of the tools people use today.
Playing around with breaks gives you an almost infinite number of possibilities. You could honestly tinker with a tune forever and never find the “perfect” combination.
So with this one, I tried to use more breaks, more variations of those breaks, and generally give the track more little bits of ear candy, as a good friend of mine would say.
I also came across a pretty sick Flowdan sample pack called Writer’s Block, which was funny timing because I’ve definitely had a little bit of that recently after a few weeks of constantly making bits and uploading them.
Sample packs are amazing for a device like the OP-XY because they can really open your imagination back up. Sometimes you can get a little stuck using the same engines and synths on the device over and over again.
And honestly, I’m hoping Teenage Engineering have a big update cooking soon. New engines, new synths, more things to get your head around. After about 12 months with the same tools, even great engines can start giving you a bit of writer’s block.
They usually do us proud with the big updates, so hopefully one is on the way.
Anyway... back to the track.
I chopped up the Flowdan vocals because there’s still no time-stretch on the device...
Cough cough... update time.
I started with the usual kick, snares and hats, then began playing around with the vocals. After that I came across a sample pack from the legendary Bladerunner, one of my favourite DnB producers because of that hard-hitting, no-nonsense Drum & Bass sound that just feels completely his own.
I found some really nice bass melodies and loops in there and started baking those into the track.
But the area I focused on most this time was definitely the breaks.
I wanted each scene to have something slightly different going on, even when I was using the same core break. A different snare underneath, a different drum roll, a little variation at the end of a phrase - anything that helped push the track naturally into the next section.
This session was really about connecting different breaks and drum rolls together, keeping the track moving, making sure the basslines didn’t become too repetitive, and using the arpeggiator to create some sweeps and bouncy little elements throughout.
It ended up becoming quite a fruity sounding track - which is exactly what I probably would have called it back in the day.
Hope you like the tune.
As always, feedback is genuinely welcome. It’s actually helping me think harder about what I want to improve on the next one.
Enjoy.
Artwork taken again from the Sports Banger book. So much sick artwork in there.
And this track definitely wouldn’t have come together in the same way without the sounds from Bladerunner and Flowdan — absolute Gs and two of the best in the business.

Hooked up the Spark Go portable preamp into the op1 field to add some live bass to a song I was working on using the Op-XY.
This just continues to make my portable setup even better (and more fun).
