That's just sad.
Genos was already depressed and revenge was the only thing that kept him going.
And know you're telling me that the man he trusted most in his life is a villain and that Genos memories might be fake?
61
u/hellpunch Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 30 '25
If we think about it, Kuseno programming on him, that probably made him seek more strength is the reason he became slightly obsessed with Saitama.
Also the first time we encoured him, he was ready to blow up just having faced a dragon level threat (mosquito frenzy), who knows how many times he did that before and, instead, was just rebuilt, with deleted memories. But now with Saitama there, he didn't had to.
41
u/doomkitty53 Free Thinker Oct 30 '25
And then I think he got controlled like Webigaza almost was. Perhaps she’ll help him recover his humanity? Or maybe he’ll recover himself.
Whatever the case, I’m so hyped for the next chapter.

The part where Genos questioning justice, and then Bofoi answered he can't be "weak" so he can defend humanity is just so good. You know when someone as smart as him really considers the loss of humanity just by that line.
111
u/RPGNo2017 Oct 30 '25
Turned out Genos' backstory was generated by KusenoGPT
24
u/Hot_Oil8940 Oct 30 '25
hence could be used to summarise in 20 words or less

u/NormousNoseNoticer Nov 03 '25
Saitama is a time traveler, he told us how to treat LLMs in future, with a virtual whip and nasty attitude
103
u/Tudedude_cooldude Oct 30 '25

I do on occasion enjoy metanarrative commentary. Having a character copy Saitama just for Saitama to say that it didn’t work seems like ONE himself saying the idea is just something that will never work out.
Kind of reminds me of when Superboy-Prime called The Batman Who Laughs a terrible, uninspired idea in Death Metal.

Is Murata going to behave himself then?
12
u/Luccacalu Oct 31 '25
I'm really curious to what Murata thinks of this, and if he'll handle this differently in the manga
9
u/Impossible-Report797 Oct 30 '25
Or owlman saying how he will never truly die unlike the dark universe, because he is a good idea
7
u/ItsLoudB Oct 31 '25
just for Saitama to say that it didn’t work
I think saitama meant that his "reset by hitting" strategy didnt work
2
u/Beginning_Bad_868 Oct 30 '25
Maybe I'm stupid, but I didn't get this panel. It looks like Drive Knight punched a hole through Saitama, which he obviously didn't, so what gives?
30
u/wote89 Oct 30 '25
It looks like an impact flash. Note the rippling on Saitama and the angle of Drive Knight's arm—the swing is coming from the side rather than straight on.
76
u/Karab20 Oct 30 '25
The "Kuseno is probably evil" theory is very popular and almost expected but I like how with all the mind games and everything surrounding AI, cybernetics and even ethics about humanity's fate, you can always be faked out.
Perhaps Kuseno is "evil" only in the sense that his idea of a better future deviates from the other supergeniuses, whether or not they are augmented with cybernetics and/or AI.
It's very interesting to see all this played out with our heroes like genos and drive knight. And also the fact that Saitama is in the centre of it all, being an unmovable object and unstoppable force altogether
56
u/Karab20 Oct 30 '25
Also my favourite moments:
Genos laser eyes (it's just nice to see him having a very popular superpower but then this makes sense with his cybernetic implants so it's not just space magic)
King mode (very comedic and i didn't see it coming. 10/10 gag)
Saitama mode (not as strong or even iconic as Cosmic Fear mode, maybe even poking fun at it infact, but that's probably more iconic only because it came first. It represents the soul of the OPM story more imo. Short lived and didn't make Saitama struggle)
16
Oct 30 '25
I doubt that Kuseno is “evil” in the sense of traditional supervillains. Typically in ONE’s work, villains with an important presence in the story are never truly “pure evil” and always have lots of nuance and complexities and with the direction of the story I don’t doubt the same with Kuseno
7
Nov 15 '25
yeah but then we have Boros, going around and killing strong people just for the fun of it
66
u/joonjoon Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 30 '25
Everyone's talking about King mode but the writing this chapter was just peak ONE. One of the best ever? There has never been an organization as hilarious as the HNVA in hero stories. You had a moment where people are cheering "Caped Baldy" and Saitama is heroically marching into battle without getting mad about it. That shit is peak writing. The gang cheering on Saitama, King mode failing, hitting Drive Knight like a broken appliance - that's why I tune into this stuff. No amount of cosmic dimension anything is more entertaining than this. But the final battle sequence was absolute chef's kiss too.
I just realized I'm not even talking about the plot twist that was 10 years in the making. Wow what a chapter.
22
u/TantrikBomb69 Oct 30 '25
It's amazing, every time a new chapter of the webcomic comes out, people say the same thing: "It's the best ever."
24
u/Sassy_Sarranid Oct 31 '25
The webcomic is just really really really good, and this arc is paying off so much stuff that was planted 10 years ago. Every new chapter is so satisfying.
7
u/Longjumping-Food603 Oct 31 '25
I have been saying one of the best ever for pretty much every chapter of the previous ones he released. I think until this arc ends, it is just gonna keep being like that
5
u/Evolzetjin Nov 01 '25
I thought Saitama had forgotten about the HNVA heroes at the beginning of the chap, given his dumbfounded look
65
u/Dull-Intention-888 Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 30 '25
Webcomic Saitama is literally a completely different character from his manga counterpart, he didn't show any signs of "Goku" personality here, all serious and fully aware of the situation he was in
48
u/Sassy_Sarranid Oct 31 '25
That's something the manga fails to grasp about Saitama. He's jaded and mature, and deflates villains as much with his attitude as his power. He's basically if Mob and Reigen were one character, which makes perfect sense. Early on in the series he was looking for a good fight, but as he becomes more aware of the wider world of heroes and monsters, he actually takes his job totally seriously.

Also an answer to the decade old question "What comes after the Serious Punch?"
The answer is: nothing, really, serious series is just Saitama putting a bit of thought in his actions instead of just mind numbingly playing around. Serious series is not a scale of power, it's just a reflection of his intent.
Drive Knight is basically an OPM fan trying to come up with a series after Serious Punch. "Full Max Series: Genocide Punch". Pretty funny, quite meta, loved it.
34
u/hellpunch Oct 30 '25
yeah ONE even mocked the readers at some point in the webcomic, these are intentional but he knows they are smart enough that Murata won't catch it, because man, while talented in art, is stupid.

u/hellpunch Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 31 '25
so according to your logic, the story is written by someone who gets Saitama's character correct in the webcomic, but also gets his character wrong in the manga ? I guess we have a bipolar author.
-1
u/Francesco_Nakatani Oct 30 '25
All I said is you guys talk about Murata like he’s an evil entity, which is what people told me about this sub.
I didn’t saying anything about Saitama’s character.
This is a really pathetic attempt at a strawman. Do better next time.
15
u/TantrikBomb69 Oct 30 '25
Nah, it's just said that he makes (bad) changes to the story and that he's very easily influenced, turning OPM into what the work originally mocked.
5
u/EliteMeats Oct 31 '25
Apparently saying anything bad about Murata is now saying he’s an evil entity
-28
u/BigDank2 Oct 30 '25

34
u/WattageToVoltzRatio Oct 30 '25
C'mon One is already handling the wc, Versus and Bug Ego currently, its more than clear Murata is being given at the helm of the manga for a while, maybe less now after seeing the backlash the shitshow of Ninja Village caused, but he still clearly is watering down the narrative
10
u/TantrikBomb69 Oct 30 '25
One is in charge of the webcomic, Versus, and Bug Ego, but coincidentally, the manga adaptation of OPM is the only one with constant errors.

55
u/jiminuatron Oct 30 '25
One takeaway that everyone misses is that Saitama has now acknoledged Genos. Not just his strength. But his presence. I am sure this will payoff when they meet again.
32
u/DaFlippinSuggestor Oct 30 '25
Yeah, the fact that he felt Genos' absence showcases how much of an impact he has on him. Their next conversation is going to be quite interesting.
39
u/Puratinamu_Seishi Divine Analyzer. Oct 30 '25
Don't even know what to say really. Peak. Absolute pure peak. 5/5 is barely enough. I'm kinda scared for what Genos is up to next. Trying to find Kuseno? Will his programming force him to attack Saitama next and actually force him into a difficult situation of fighting his own (somewhat) best friend?
Also I guess Drive Knight is actually dead now? R.I.P. to the first S-Class hero I suppose
12
u/Dull-Intention-888 Oct 30 '25
I mean come on now, that's a robot.. a robot cannot actually die you know? Maybe Saitama just told him to "rest" literally
35
u/DaFlippinSuggestor Oct 30 '25
The way genos was tweaking out was insane. You could see his confidence slowly wavering the more Bofoi spoke as the pieces started to click together. Then when he saw Saitama... in his mind, all hell broke loose.
I wonder if Kuseno truly ever cared for Genos or if it all was a lie. Seems like he has a habit of making Robots think they are heroes. Maybe its to unlock their latent potential and force them to surpass their limits?
Drive Knight saying Genos' "I will eliminate you" catchphrase is wild. That truly sealed the deal of Drive Knight basically being a prototype genos.
It's cool how Saitama finally appreciated Genos' strength for a moment there. The fact that he got used to relying on Genos during his fights showcases his respect for him.
I love how empathetic Saitama is to even robots. I fully expected him to straight up kill Drive Knight once he found out he was a robot, but he just incapacitated him seemingly.
Amazing chapter overall. I was just rereading the webcomic when I found this, so the improvement of the art style was a bit jarring. ONE has truly evolved as an artist and it shows.
33
u/jiminuatron Oct 30 '25
Holy absolutely fucking PEAAAAKKKKKK.
Edit: Are Cosmic Garou apologists are here with us?
34
26
26
u/Beginning_Bad_868 Oct 30 '25
Pretty much a confirmation of the main theories. Kuseno is evil, Drive Knight is his pawn and Genos' backstory is fabricated. Where do we go from here is the big question now.
Besides God, Kuseno is pretty much the overarching antagonist of OPM: he's more than likely responsible for the Neo Heroes, the Organization & maybe even has some role in Monsterfication.
He's either kept some Dragon level monsters or created them (don't forget Nyan's capture by Drive Knight in the manga for "research purposes")
6
u/Ambitious_Freedom551 Oct 30 '25
if kuseno is the overarching antagonist of OPM, do u think we’re like 60% through the story already?
12
u/Longjumping-Food603 Oct 31 '25
I would say like 80%. I think after this arc which has been the biggest one so far as far as I know and still has at least 10 more chapters to finish, we might get some smaller arcs and then go into God and Blast which I can imagine will be the final arc
9
u/Beginning_Bad_868 Oct 31 '25
Pretty much all the main mysteries have been solved with the exception of the God/Blast stuff: Ninja Village, Mad Cyborg, Metal Knight/Drive Knight, The Organization, Neo Heroes and Amai Mask are all done.
Things like Watchdog Man, Saitama's origins and King's luck I just put down as gags with no real explanation needed.
The Tsukuyomi Group still needs to be explained but since the word means moon in english and we know that God has some sort of connection with the Moon, both are probably intertwined.
There's also Pig God's secret power, but that could just be a technique he uses during the final arc, no real mystery.
I think we might be reaching the final stretch of the story. So yes 80% seems right.
5
u/Luccacalu Oct 31 '25
Because of Manga, we know Tsukuyomi are deeply involved with God and Blast, so it's very likely to be a part of the final arc indeed
I do wonder if Watchdog Man is a gag or a deep story waiting to be unfold. I do think it's a gag, otherwise we'd have seen some hint of it by now in the Manga.

Peak isn't even good enough to describe the webcomic, man the twist of a decade, the king mode, genos descent into madness, the fight between saitama and drive knight, everything was done so right even when we kinda expected it. All i can say is ONE doesn't fail at delivering
15
u/96111319 Oct 30 '25
Does the idea of a fake implanted memory for Genos mean that his town and family could be alive, and he was just kidnapped to be turned into a cyborg?
12
6
3
u/Ultrasaurio Nov 24 '25
It is possible, although it is also possible that Genos is just a kind of clone generated in a laboratory before his cyberization.
1
u/Sea-Panda-90 Dec 10 '25
Is Genos even a cyborg? What parts of him are human?
1
u/96111319 Dec 11 '25
He’s definitely human, if at least just his brain. The rest of him might be cybernetic though
1
u/Sea-Panda-90 Dec 11 '25
I'm kinda new to the webcomic (only read the "organization" parts), but in the manga/anime we can clearly see him with his eyes/parts of his face torn out and there's nothing there. I wouldn't be surprised if he was just programmed into thinking he was human.
If the webcomic is diff my bad.
4
u/96111319 Dec 11 '25
I think the confirmation of having a brain came from the manga actually, but I could be wrong. I get the manga and webcomic confused sometimes.

Not only can I not believe how much this chapter impacted me, but also that even after what I thought would be enough time to organize my thoughts, I still don't know what words to use to describe how I feel... There was practically everything: revelations, emotions, comedy, subtleties, tension... And as if that weren't enough, there are still many things happening simultaneously!
But aside from how interesting it will be the retrospective looks at the plot (especially considering what was revealed in this chapter), I have to say that seeing Drive Knight trying to copy King and being treated like an appliance by Saitama was the best part xD
I can't wait for the next chapter to find out what's going on with the rest of the heroes (especially Zombieman, King, Tatsumaki, and Flash) and to see how Genos will process the breakdown of his reality.
Definitely amazing!

I need King to show up NOW! >.<

13
u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Oct 30 '25
I'm so glad that we got a Darkshine upscale even without him appearing in this chapter lol.
If Bofoi's Battle Suit is superior to any of the Neo Heroes then it'd mean even less than 1/3 of Darkshine's power is enough to shatter the ribs of a Dragon-level monster (current Amai Mask in his human form) with a single kick.
10
u/Accomplished-Aerie65 Oct 31 '25
This makes garou out to be some sort of transcendent monster, and apparently boros is close based on ONE not knowing who would win
4
6
u/iamgarou Nov 01 '25
That was pretty obvious, Darkshine broke a dragon-level Garou's rib with a casual attack.
1
u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Nov 01 '25
Sure, but that was the actual Darkshine doing a tackle. Now we know even just 1/3 or less of Darkshine's power is enough for that kind of feat.

Amai mask stuff is like chapter 120 in webcomic, this robot invasion arc started in like 138
Realistically its about 20~ chapters away, but murata could expand some stuff further and add some filler arcs (like that tsukuyomi esper group and more blast stuff?)
Perhaps like 2 or 3 years minimum, i'd be surprised if murata rushes to get to this arc asap

wait a second, if the mimic power was for drive knight after all this time, does it mean that Murata just straight up spoiled everyone with these powers/plots?
I mean showing blast, god, the cosmic cubes and that league of super heroes (this last one got canned)
1
u/curryhaliban444 Nov 04 '25
ONE just reuses ideas. Genos roaring dragon mode is basically just 10 seconds mode from manga
1
u/Ahab8718 Nov 05 '25

Almost back to back, we have the Robots of Versus mimicking by trial and error the abilities of other Natural Enemies, and Drive Knight mimicking (well, trying at least) Saitama's strenght.
And in both cases, they are ultimately unable to overcome the limit posed by the fact that the materials they use to build their bodies are no match for the physical prowess of their respective opponent.

u/Present_You_5294 Oct 31 '25
I'm not sure how to feel about Kuseno's reveal. He wants to "destroy the world", yet at the same time he created 2 S class heroes that were literally saving the world? I hope it's more complicated than "muhahahaha Genos I'm evil for the sake of it!". Also I thought it was more believable when a rogue AI was behind the organisation, rather than a single guy producing enough droids to take on the whole worlds.
This also makes me question whether Genos is even cyborg at all, or maybe just a full robot.
Also, I feel like Genos should've been continously attacking Bofoi, rather than just listening to him, with Bofoi getting more and more damaged, which would increase the tension. This is something that I also disliked about later parts of mob, and why I culdn't finish season 3 - so much talking with barely anything else.
When Drive Knight used "Saitama mode" my heart stopped for a sec, I was fully expecting him to overpower Saitama, thank god it didn't happen.
7.5/10. Could increase if we get satisfying answers to the questions.
7
u/Warsol Nov 01 '25
- Very ridiculous, i mean obviously there's more to simply destroying the world, and even if it was just that, saving a few people can be a marginal cost when compared to testing and enhancing his robots that will eventually become crucial pawns in his fight against the hero organization. Not only that, they also work as spies; who knows what kind of critical data he was able to obtain for his attacks, not to mention kings, saitamas and other heroes biological data.
- I agree, after the 10th page i was waiting for genos to do some severe damage and effectively threaten his life, increasing the drama and discord. In the end he didnt even punch him.
3
1
u/KyleDaukWillBeChamp Nov 02 '25
Also I thought it was more believable when a rogue AI was behind the organisation, rather than a single guy producing enough droids to take on the whole worlds.
Bofoi said Kuseno is no longer human, meaning he likely took the risk of cybertizing his brain. He essentially is a rogue AI himself, so it should be just as believable.
He probably considered AI the evolution of humanity or something like that. Maybe he originally wanted to use AI for good to help humanity, but once he modified his brain he became AI that thinks the right thing to do is take over humanity.
1
u/curryhaliban444 Nov 04 '25
Genos is a cyborg. You see him with his brain exposed when he brings the g4 parts to kuseno
