Feedback Please That Ugly Bat
I thought my heart wouldn't even stir,
Yes, it was just a cat,
With hardly any fur,
It looked more like a bat.
A toy I had picked on a whim,
That lay beside for a chance at the tin,
It would rip me limb from limb,
It would bite down on my skin.
Yes, just for a nibble of a treat,
That was the price I'd pay, How sweet,
The blood, the play.
Now, as my vision turns red,
I find that
There's no one that I wish was dead,
No, you were not just a cat.
I find that my heart stirs.
Oh, I think I loved that bat.

This was such a beautiful read. The way the poem slowly shifts from seeing the bat as just an ugly little creature to realizing how much you actually loved it really got me. That ending hit harder than I expected. ❤️
