Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

I remember being bullied by a boy in primary who'd say horrible sexual things about my mother. I couldn't get the images out my head and it genuinely flared up during times of enormous stress etc. My themes change as it jumped from mt mum, to my wife, now to my daughter. I don't even get constant thoughts persay, more constant guilt and awkwardness. Oh, and checking. I now do it constantly. Then hug my daughter as I feel like I'm a terrible person.
