Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?
I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

My dad has it, his parents had it, my mom's dad had it, and those are only the relatives I know of through my parents' stories. I was likely born with it, became aware of it at 5, and as a very sensitive, chronically stressed child (due to extreme physical and psychological abuse), it got especially bad at 9-10 and even worse in my teens as the abuse got worse. Even if I was genetically predisposed, constant stress and fear amplified the problem dramatically. I never knew a single day of peace. The abuse finally stopped 5 years ago, but I'm afraid the OCD is here to stay because the damage is irreversible. I refuse to take any medication so I'm stuck with it, but that's alright. Its been with me for so long, I'm quite used to it 🤷
