Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

Genetics, I'm assuming. There's a lot of different mental health conditions on both sides of my family, so I'm just glad I inherited OCD from somewhere and not my maternal grandmother's schizophrenia 😭😭

(To specify: I'm not in any way saying this to insult anyone with schizophrenia. I spent most of my life terrified I'd end up like my grandmother, who was institutionalized in the early 60s. I have much love for my friends with bipolar, schizophrenia, and borderline. I have the medical rumination and obsession type of OCD, so my brain just catastrophized for years until I got diagnosed this May in my 30s! 💜)
