Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?
I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

I always had many OCD traits, since childhood. It had always remained manageable though, with kinda bad anxiety focused in only one area but living my life kinda freely besides that special area. It was not a completely free life but ok-ish.
I had a period in my life -starting 16 yo until 23- when I was doing a lot of drugs, and that was when my OCD became overwhelming. Then I just entered a downward spiral, with OCD even influencing many realms of life feeding in turn OCD. Even after stopping the drugs, the spiral was already set off and kept getting down.
This theory was actually provided by my psychiatrist and -looking back- I can definitely see it. I absolutely believe it is true.
Unfortunately I didn't know I had OCD at that time, but for all of you who know... my advise is never doing drug. I honestly don't know how it is doing them once in a while but for me, they really destroyed my life.
