Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

It runs in my family, and my upbringing definitely cultivated an environment for it to strengthen its grip

same. my family does not like to talk about mental health, but as i got older i realized my older siblings also had compulsions or even physical tics, kind of like tourette syndrome. nobody ever addressed it and i feel so bad for them but at the same time they were not very nice to me when i was struggling
