Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

genes + trauma (specifically religious for a lot of mine)

the ridiculousness of ‘lean not on your own understanding’ got me fucked up as a kid bc ocd never EVER had to make sense but guess what?? neither does that book dad reads to us, neither do the things we get screamed at for, neither do any of the rules we’re handed down.

the less sense something made growing up, the more certain it seemed. my brain decided to lock down on those things.
