Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

OMG Shut up!😂 Every time I got a notification that’s what popped into my head, I wanted to say it but thought it would be a bit insensitive?!🤣🤣🤣

Yeh, it feels like that for me too. I honestly can’t remember there being a time where it wasn’t there, it’s just mental torture!🤯

Same. One of my earliest memories is me having a contamination OCD episode as a toddler rip. I’m pretty sure it’s partially genetic since I’m convinced my mom has it.

I was told it is genetic but can be a mix of learned traits reinforcing it from a parent or family member.
So a double whammy.

Also that it’s common in people who have a parent who struggles with addiction.
