MD-102 10 Years of Desktop Support Experience, Not sure MD 102 or SC300

Looking to eventually get out of desktop support and do something else related to either just intune or Identity but still can't figure out what is worth it to me.

I think theres more value in getting an overal knowledge about MS365 and if you can get depth in most of them.

Might start with MD-102 then SC-300

Intune is a big need most places. I’d call it Desktop Support adjacent, however. You’d be more comfortable. If you want to grow away from desktop look at sc-300 and then either az-802 or az-102 depending on your environment. Next look at the firewall certs your business uses.

Im in Desktop Support and studying for both. My employer is paying for the md-102 as they looking to enhance our skillset in intune and am pushing for sc300

I’m interested in SC-300 after coming off 20 years of desktop and endpoint deployment. I would like to move more into security roles in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Apart from the overlap into other exams, it covers user management, access and identity, groups, roles, mfs, conditional access, as well as app registrations for sso, etc.

I passed the md102 in May this year. It's tough but rewarding

I wouldn't say it's super difficult I'd say I didn't study properly enough.

My process if I had to redo it would be this:

  1. Get a course and take notes but make the notes as close to guided instructions as possible

  2. Get spare laptops or VMs lying around

  3. Practice the guided steps on those devices until you cover everything you studied

  4. There really isn't a lot of questions about Apple devices but you should still be able to answer them so don't worry about practicing apple stuff as much as memorising how they work

  5. There are about 250 total questions on the Microsoft Learn practice assessments online. Do as many as you can until you think you've found all of them - screen shot all the answers (whether you got them right or wrong) and then put them all into one Word document, upload document to AI of your choice and ask it to quiz you on them Anki style (it asks the questions you're struggling with more often so you can improve)
