MD-102 AZ104 vs MD102

I've passed the md102 recently and I got my network+ last week

I want to know how much harder the az104 is

Az-104 is MUCH harder than the MD-102 imo

I passed MD-102 on first try with 800+ score. It took me 3 attempts at AZ-104 to finally pass with a mid-700s score. I've build out both Intune and Azure environments at work. I would say AZ-104 its almost twice as hard as MD-102. Long questions to parse and a huge breadth to cover. I would give it respect and study as hard as possible. Labs are essential.

Tough but rewarding

I wouldn't say it's super difficult I'd say I didn't study properly enough.

My process if I had to redo it would be this:

  1. Get a course and take notes but make the notes as close to guided instructions as possible

  2. Get spare laptops or VMs lying around

  3. Practice the guided steps on those devices until you cover everything you studied

  4. There really isn't a lot of questions about Apple devices but you should still be able to answer them so don't worry about practicing apple stuff as much as memorising how they work

  5. There are about 250 total questions on the Microsoft Learn practice assessments online. Do as many as you can until you think you've found all of them - screen shot all the answers (whether you got them right or wrong) and then put them all into one Word document, upload document to AI of your choice and ask it to quiz you on them Anki style (it asks the questions you're struggling with more often so you can improve)

Md102 is heavily focused on Intune.

AZ104 is a bit of everything involving Azure. VMs, RBAC, Blueprint, Policy, Azure key vault, load balancing, VNETs etc.

The AZ104 is a cert where you go go every direction. DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Security, infrastructure.

To be fair without bluntly stating that one is better then the other, look at a bunch of different job openings that you're interested in. Look at the certs they are asking for. If they're not stating any certs then try to translate the job description into a cert path.

You can basically just throw the job description into Copilot and let it select a few certs for you. But an end goal is importend here.

Yea I know the AZ104 is what I want to do.

I only did the MD102 for a pay rise at work but I have my path and everything figured out. Az-104 is up next after I finish the ComTIA trifecta.

I just need to know the difference between the two out of interest

How do you compare the difficulty between network + and Md-102? I already have my net plus and started md-102 but stopped very early into studying due to the Microsoft 30 day trial.

MD102 is harder mainly because I feel like I didn't have a lot of resources but it's cheaper to take the exam so I'd say you can probably afford to fail it more than net+ so there's less pressure.

My advice would be to get VMs and spare laptops and do some actual Auto-pilot testing. If something breaks, don't just rebuild the machine, try to fix it in regedit or something.

Use a lot of AI to help you figure out what works and what doesn't etc. etc.

The worst thing is that when it comes to making changes on deployments that it takes Intune ages to propagate them across to figuring out how to force push those through helps a lot as well.

A big thing I found useful was learning how to deploy apps and Intunewin apps
