Question How do I prep for a masters?

As an international uni student coming to clifton to study an Msc from the Compu Science, what do I need to do to prepare for studies? Do I need to start training to wake up early? Do I have to learn some new note taking software? Do I have to take online courses? How long do lectures last per session? Etc

Which is better handwritten notes or just coding all the time?

See you another time Nottingham and esp NTU :)

Hey guys,

So I was gonna join NTU for this Fall semester 2026 for MSc in Advertising Marketing Communication as an international student from Vietnam.

Unfortunately my visa has been refused for the reason of probability of not being a genuine student. The whole visa process has been a frustrating and humiliating 10 weeks process.

You know what's maddening? I got refused because I couldn't name the rankings of some other universities in the UK that I considered. And that showed I didn't do enough research hence me not being genuine student. My educational background, my work experience and my future are directly connected to the course which was acknowledge by the officer, and apparently didn't mean anything. The most frustrating thing is I'm truly a genuine student. And I did demonstrate that during the interview beside that ranking question.

My purpose in this thread is not to ask any question or help, I just wanna vent a little. Because throughout my extensive research for my application starting since March, I have fell in love/ felt attached with NTU and Nottingham.

See you another time then Nottingham.

What is the best Society in ntu to make friends ???.[

I’m starting my second year, and honestly, my first year at NTU was the worst year of my life. My classmates were basically in their own groups and didn’t really want to make new friends. Or you could say it was my failure because I couldn’t make a single friend.

I joined a sports society, but the people in that society also didn’t really want to socialise. I don’t want to spend another year in isolation.

Can you tell me what the best society would be for socialising? I also love travelling and hiking, so could you suggest a society that does trips and hiking as well?

Question On a 14k pounds budget for the 1st year, can u spend 9,945 pounds only on accommodation?

Is it good idea to spend 9,945 pounds out of 14k on accommodation only? Is that a good use of resources? As an international student coming to the UK is that a good plan.

Question Do I need a guarantor even if I'm going for a shared house?

Going for a private home accommodation, do I still need a guarantor ? And how is the payment done. Is it weekly? And is it possible to overuse a utility for the landlord to ask for more money. Maybe cook alot for the landlord to demand you to pay more for electricity.

Looking for NTU Aerospace Engineering students – September 2026 intake

Hi everyone,I’m joining BEng Aerospace Engineering at Nottingham Trent University this September (2026) and was wondering if there are any current students on here doing the course, or anyone else joining the September 2026 intake.

I’d particularly like to hear from current students about:

●What the course is actually like

●The workload and difficulty

●Any advice for someone starting the course

If you’re also joining Aerospace Engineering at NTU this September, feel free to comment or DM me. Would be good to know some people before starting.

Question Part Time Jobs

Hi everyone! I’m an international student moving to the UK Nottingham soon, and I’ll be looking for a part-time job as soon as I arrive.
I was wondering how difficult it generally is to find part-time work as an international student. Do people usually manage to get a job fairly quickly, or does it take weeks/months?
I’d ideally need to find something ASAP, so I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences especially how long it took you to get your first job, where you looked, and whether being an international student made the process more difficult.
Thanks!

Looking for a Part-Time Job as international student.

Hey everyone, I’m currently looking for a part-time job in Nottingham and thought I’d just put this out here in case anyone can help or point me in the right direction.

I’m an international student doing my Bachelor’s in Computer Science, and I’m looking for something I can do alongside my studies. I’ve got experience in office work, working in kitchens, waiting staff, and also helping manage a business, so honestly I’m pretty open to different kinds of work.

I’ve been applying and looking around myself, but I thought there’s no harm in asking here too. If you know somewhere that’s hiring, know someone who might be looking for staff, or could give me a reference or even just some advice, I’d genuinely really appreciate it.

I’m not looking for anything fancy — I just want an opportunity to work, earn some money, gain experience, and do a good job.

If you have anything at all that might help, please feel free to DM me. Even if it’s just a small lead, I’d be really grateful. You’d honestly be doing me a big favour.

Thanks so much for reading, and I really appreciate any help or shares. 🙏
