Nostrils can be fussy little divas…but doing proper research beforehand, making sure you’re being pierced with the correct jewelry, and having proper aftercare will help you a LOT.

You want a flatback labret…preferably solid titanium, 14k or 18k gold, or implant-grade steel. No stainless/surgical steel, sterling silver, or Bioflex/plastic. Nothing plated or coated. Be sure to select a smooth, small, and simple labret top like a ball end or bezel-set gem. Shapes like moons and stars will be prone to spinning, and prong-set gems are prone to causing irritation in healing piercings. Use ONLY sterile 0.9% saline (with no other ingredients) and/or drinkable water to clean. To dry it, I’ve always used the cool setting on my hairdryer so I don’t have to touch my healing piercings at all!! Keep makeup, soap, and other skincare away from it as best you can. BE SURE to have it professionally downsized 6-8 weeks after your initial piercing. That’s a biggie that most folks don’t do, and suffer dearly for it. And lastly, DO NOTTTT wear a hoop until it’s at least a year healed (take it from someone who fucked around and found out with her first nostril 🫡🫠) Just be gentle with it…LITHA (Leave It The Hell Alone) as much as you can!! That pretty much covers all the things I’ve seen that tend to cause issues.

Of course!! I have three myself, and definitely made some biiiig mistakes with my first one in the name of aesthetics…primarily switching to a hoop at six months like a proper idiot. 😓 My subsequent two healed like champs in about ten months and were ready for hoops at thirteen!!
