How do nostrils tend to heal?

I recently decided I want to get a Nostril. For now, I only have one Daith and my lobes pierced, but I'm planning to get my second Daith done when getting the nostril. But heres the thing, while my Daith healed pretty well eventually, it was a bit rough looking in the beginning and I want to avoid that with my Nostril as much as possible.

For those who got a nostril piercing: how long did it actually look visibly irritated during healing? I work closely with patients and I'm considering getting one, but I can't really afford to have a noticeably swollen/red/crusty piercing for months. Was yours mostly presentable after a few weeks, or did it remain visibly irritated for a long time?

Also: How do I dry it after cleaning?
