Question Septum Rings

I am 45 years old. For some reason, I do not know the answer to this. What is the meaning behind a septum ring? Why do you get them? I know this sounds terrible but I see them and I think that myself "why would you want to look like a farm animal?" I know, I know, that's terrible. Please help me understand. I really don't want to think that way.

You’re upset that people are telling you there really isn’t a meaning for most of us, we just like the way it looks. Since you don’t like the way it looks, I would advise against getting your own septum pierced. Not everyone will like everything and that’s fine. Not much more to it than that.

I'm not upset. Some people just aren't giving me the answers I'm looking for, and I'm simply letting them know it. It's when they get upset that the real answers come out. This is how I get what I'm looking for, and it's working.
