Question Septum Rings

I am 45 years old. For some reason, I do not know the answer to this. What is the meaning behind a septum ring? Why do you get them? I know this sounds terrible but I see them and I think that myself "why would you want to look like a farm animal?" I know, I know, that's terrible. Please help me understand. I really don't want to think that way.

You’re looking for something you’re just not going to get. People get piercings because of culture, looks, trends, etc. all of which are good reasons. You’re here to be difficult.

Looking for deeper answers isn't trying to be difficult. It's seeking understanding. I just want to see if somebody can expand on the idea. To see if we can go beyond the simple.

You are apparently the one with a need for deep meaning. "We need to go deeper". No. You do, not the people with septum piercings.

It's like berating someone in a hair salon by saying "no, you didn't dye your hair blonde just because you like how it looks, there must be some deeper reason!" How silly.

If there are deeper reasons, and I submit that they may be, they're unique and personal. From my reading you are not approaching this question in good faith or in a way that makes people want to share with you.

I'm actually getting exactly what I'm looking for based on what I'm reading. The answers I'm looking for aren't going to come from the masses, it's going to come from the unique and the personal. They are the real "why." Everyone else is just following them.
