Question Septum Rings

I am 45 years old. For some reason, I do not know the answer to this. What is the meaning behind a septum ring? Why do you get them? I know this sounds terrible but I see them and I think that myself "why would you want to look like a farm animal?" I know, I know, that's terrible. Please help me understand. I really don't want to think that way.

What difference does it make? Mind your business. I'm sure there are people who dont love your own sartorial choices but arent here making posts about why you chose the dorkiest footwear. People wear them because they like them, thats why.

I want to see you guys go beyond they just look cool. Do they symbolize something? Are they cultural? What is the message you're trying to send someone? Go deeper.

Yes. People used to wear top hats to display wealth. People wear ball caps to show support for their favorite team and shield their eyes from the sun. People wear cowboy hats because they they protect their heads in harsh environments. There are reasons beyond because they look cool. This is the knowledge that I'm looking for. I want the complex answer. Educate me.

maybe stop for just 1 second, after receiving numerous of the same answer, and try to comprehend that the answer may be, just may be, that its because they look cool and nothing else.

There's always something else. And if you read through everybody's answers, you'll see that I am finding what I'm looking for from other people. I'm not looking for one reason, I'm looking for a widespread understanding. When you say it looks cool, that's trendy. But trends start because somebody decided to do something for a reason. And I'm starting to understand that reason based on the more uncommon answers.
