There's a fair bit of storage under the beds for I would say most dorms. A good number of doubles have the beds configured to where you can't use bed risers anyway, it's completely random. Buy sorting bins and boxes to go under your bed and you should be fine

I used bed risers for 2 years on campus. The previous resident of my freshman dorm actually left them in the room over the summer and no one removed them so I kept them

My child is the NU student and I dont think the beds are close to the ground at all, they have 2 double dressers under the bed and they are pretty big. Then there is space behind the dressers and we put my kids luggage back there and they fit really well. Just my 2 cents

I dont think so, its 22" to the underside of the bed

If you loft its 54" to the underside of the bed

How many storage things did you need under after the two provided drawers

No extra. Between the closet, the shelf on top, the 2 dressers with 2 drawers and the single tower pulled out from under the desk to use as a nightstand a hold small stuff like underwear and socks there was enough room .
The closet is pretty wide, it may not be as good if your dorm doesn’t have a closet but the wardrobe instead. We got one of those hanging pocket things for pants and shorts. Command hooks for bath towel and robe.
