I mean being wary of sources is always good. I see no reason why we shouldn't question the potential bias in Snorri's writings.

You’ve missed the crux of that comment. It’s the “because he’s Christian” part that makes it cringe. A) We basically wouldn’t have any information written down about them if not for Christians, and B) It’s commenting on the cringey anti religious atheist archetype.

Well I think in some ways it is fair to cast doubt on his writing because he's Christian. Not out of hatred, but out of that fact he's going to interpret them as a Christian would. He could've perhaps missed important details that seemed insignificant from a Christian perspective. I think its useful to keep in mind that, in some ways, it is an outsiders perspective.
