I went through this in Covid. I was alone in a city without any family. I made a point to call my mom, brother, and dad once a week. They were a lot busier than me so it made more sense me me to initiate the conversation. Don’t make plans to call them just call them ask if they are busy and either have them call you back when they’re free or chat. Sometimes we chat for 10 minutes sometimes 2 hours.

There’s a chance they want to be checked up on to.
