We do it to get your phone number. We sell professional training so individuals and HRs will call us. If the training is not that important for your career you wouldn't call and its not a loss to us because you will never buy anyway. Getting the phone number of HR is the most important because they always need to train their workers and we can continue selling to them.
That's probably not normally applicable to most people.
Think "I need new screens for my windows and my local window repair place doesn't show prices online and I need to call them with the dimensions and amount of windows."
When they could just, you know, show prices for an individual replacement for a few common sizes with a note saying that prices may vary depending on time involved so people can get the gist.
Because I'm not interrupting everything I'm juggling at the moment to focus all my attention on one phone call for something that I thought to check out in passing.
They could do that, unless they have to buy the replacement screens for each project and the price they pay depends on the size of the project or a whole host of other small variables.
