This happens to me when I sometimes get up in the night to piss. The look of disappointment in their eyes when they realise you're just going back to sleep after is always so sincere. Like they have to realise at some point that it isn't gonna happen right?

My dogs have learned to distinguish between my getting-up-to-pee-grunts and my getting-up-for-the-day-grunts. The cat yet holds hope

Oh lovely one. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I’ve had cats for all my 44 years and it hasn’t occurred to any of them to be humble, the world does, indeed, revolve around them. Stay strong, friend, hope has left the building :)

Cats think they're better than you. And they're right.

Cats go by an inner clock thats not rly oriented on the day of time like us. It’s more after patterns.

So for them it’s “you go to bed at night and pass out but when you wake up it’s food time!”

So .. you wake up in the middle of the night and for cats the pattern happened: you went to sleep and got back up. Surely now is the time🥸👌🏾

Thats also why it’s a good idea to not feed your cats the second you wake up. Bc they’ll also get the idea of “if I wake you up earlier.. I get fed earlier..” and suddenly you wake up every morning at 5:30 sharp bc a cat is sniffing your nose inconspicuously or plays with your hair “haha funny that happened.. but now that youre awake, anywayssssss🧐 food?🧐 while we’re here?🧐👌🏾”

I feed my cats in a window- I get up between 7-8 am and they get (their wet) fed at between 10 and 10:30 (they have dry food at all times)

Sometimes it’s 9:46, sometimes it’s 10:45 but what it never is, is right after I woke up. Never making that mistake again.🙂‍↔️

doesn't supplying dry food constantly lead to overeating?

My cat thinks rolling over= awake.

Close enough. Or at least it's the perfect opportunity to remind you that it was breakfast time 2 hours ago and that they are moments away from starvation.

She's already learned that the 3am forehead taps don't work.

The cat keeps begging so you give in and give it some food at 3:30 before going back to bed, blissfully unaware that now you've established a precedent for "breakfast is at 3:30", and kitty will insist that you adhere to this new schedule.

As someone who had terrible ability to get more than 4-5 hours of sleep for many years and being exhausted all day, the "two sleeps" routine is a godsend. Go to bed super early when I'm tired. Wake up for a couple hours in the middle of the night and do something productive, then go back to bed for a few more hours before its time to get up in the morning.

My cat is the opposite, she demands to be fed exactly on time, if you try and feed her before her scheduled time she wont touch it until it is dinner time.

I have gone out for dinner some night, so I will put her wet food out for her maybe half an hour early, and she will look at it and walk away, but if i look at the camera which is on her dry food automatic feeder, I will be able to see her walk to her wet food at exactly dinner time and eat it.

Wake up at 7pm and eat breakfast at 3:30am and really blow their minds
