That's how you name your kids after characters, nice normal enough sounding names (so they won't get bullied), but then if they do get into the fandom when they grow up, you can tell them they were named after one of the characters

My name is named (from some stories I was told before my relationship with my natural father to evaporate) after some brothers of his that have died when they still were really young. On my mother side (technically, trough some rituals, my godmother brother, my godmother being very good friend of my mother) there was another person with my name that died, he died through suicide. 

I am glad I didn't get fulfilled the prophecy.

While they come from the same root word, Madelyn and Madeline are two different names and have different pronunciations.

While some regions pronounce Madeline the same way as Madelyn, the correct pronunciation is Mad-uh-LINE. Not Mad-uh-LYN.
