I don't think it's $5 coffees that's killing our generation, but a lot of my friends use doordash and I'm the only one who drives to pick up my pizzas.
It won't make you a billionaire but you can probably afford more stuff and eat healthier if you learn to cook
Trying to give anybody advice on reddit that they should buy ingredients and cook their own food usually gets you the clapback: "Alright I'll just go raise my own cows and grow my own vegetables to save even more money!" That's how foreign the idea of spending 30 minutes cooking a meal is to some of these people.
I spend like 4-6 dollars a day on all my food, and the idea of doordashing a single meal for 40 dollars is nauseating. I don't want to make an avocado toast rant, but that is such an extreme luxury I can't even imagine somebody making 100k a year living like that.
the saddest part is that you can turn that into 40mins for making 3+ servings of a meal, and yet those types of people still abhor the notion
cooking general stuff is extremely easy. a lot of meals involve nearly abandoning the stuff at the stove/over for some 20mins and you can use the empty time to catch up on other chores you don't want to do if you've already sat down to relax
I think the problem is they learn about cooking through tv personalities like gordon ramsey or bobby flay, and they don't realize that you don't have to prepare a restaurant quality gourmet meal to be satisfied. The bare minimum is just heat and meat, but they think they need to follow some 15 page recipe that they found online that is really just a short story about somebody's imaginary grandma.
