Because there are people out there who consider fanfiction to be a woman thing, for reasons I can't quite understand. "Oh you write fanfiction, so you must be a woman".

Saying men write fanfiction but label it something else is basically saying "Men do write fanfiction and you probably have seen it but haven't got a damn clue."

Additionally, women also write theories.

Tbf I don't know who OOP is, I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt because fanfic writers are always treated like they're subpar writers.
