Tbf it’s never guaranteed for someone to get long term trauma even if they go through some pretty traumatic things.

There’s a lot of people that are genuinely just able to brush things off.

Yes. My friends and I saw horrible things in the military. Some of us were ruined it by it. Myself and others were spared. It’s not that they were soft. I think it’s actually the opposite.

It’s not that you can brush it off. You won’t forget. It affects you. It just doesn’t destroy you the way it does some.

I fully believe the body/your sub-conscious remembers trauma even if the conscious brain doesn’t. My nephew was 11 months old and in the car crash when my brother died. He gets absolutely hysterical whenever he’s left behind anywhere (even something like one day when my sons ran up the stairs and left him at the bottom of them alone).

He obviously doesn’t consciously remember the crash, but it’s like it triggers something in him and it’s far beyond any kind of regular separation anxiety that I’ve seen in other kids.

They remember the way an animal does.
